The '''Space Tour''' was the eighty-seventh tour of ''[[Mario Kart Tour]]'', which began on January 11, 2023 and ended on January 24, 2023. It will be rerun from January 10, 2024 to January 23, 2024 as the game's hundred-and-thirteenth tour.

It featured the introduction and [[classic course]] debut of [[Wii Rainbow Road|Rainbow Road]] from ''[[Mario Kart Wii]]'' and brought back every Rainbow Road introduced in the game so far, including [[RMX Rainbow Road 1]] and [[RMX Rainbow Road 2]]. It also introduced other space-themed items, including variants of [[Toad]] and [[Toadette]] in astronaut suits based on the [[Toad (species)|Toads]] that appear in the background of [[Rainbow Road (Mario Kart 8)|Rainbow Road]] and {{classic-link|3DS|Rainbow Road}} in ''[[Mario Kart 8]]'' and ''[[Mario Kart 8 Deluxe]]''. It was the first tour to include a white background at the end of its trailer,<ref name="EN trailer 2023">Nintendo Mobile (January 10, 2023). The trailer for this tour's 2024 re-run did not release on the usual time due to the {{wp|2024 Noto earthquake}} that occurred a few days prior, making it the first tour since the April–May 2021 [[Sydney Tour (April–May 2021)|Sydney Tour]] to feature a trailer during this tour rather than before or at the start of it.

During the first half of the tour, players could receive the newly introduced [[Toadette|Toadette (Astronaut)]] and [[Toad (species)|Pink Toad (Pit Crew)]] as rewards for placing high in the ranked cup, while the second half of the tour featured the new [[Gold Lunar Cruiser]] as a ranked reward.

The Coin Rush course for this tour was [[SNES Rainbow Road]], which was previously used in the [[List of Mario Kart Tour pre-release and unused content#Closed beta|beta test]], the [[Tokyo Tour]], and the [[Ninja Tour (2021)|2021 Ninja Tour]]. The menu's background featured [[Earth]] and various celestial bodies from Wii Rainbow Road as the landmark for this tour.

Despite Wii Rainbow Road being the signature course of the tour and its music being used in the trailer for the initial run of the tour,<ref name="EN trailer 2023"/><ref name="JP trailer 2023"/> the trailer for the 2024 rerun of the Space Tour featured the music for 3DS Rainbow Road instead.<ref>Nintendo Mobile (January 12, 2024). ==Today's Challenge==
Players' most recently used kart and glider are chosen, and favorite and favored ones have extra priority. Opponents are arranged randomly. On day 1 of this tour, players finish a race in [[3DS Cheep Cheep Lagoon]] in the [[Mii Cup]] using the [[Mii|Purple Mii Racing Suit]] for a free pipe launch. Starting from day 2, players have to finish a race in the earliest incomplete course that is not in any of the ranked cups using the driver shown on the course's thumbnail every day to obtain the corresponding reward in the table below. Once all of the courses are completed, the courses are selected at random.

The badge for this tour's Today's Challenge is reused from the [[Space Tour (2021)|2021 Space Tour]].
