Sonic appears as a character that can be spoken to in London Party mode in order to play minigames and earn stickers, and [[Mii]] outfits based on him and his Super Sonic form can be unlocked.

In the [[Nintendo 3DS]] [[Mario & Sonic at the London 2012 Olympic Games (Nintendo 3DS)|version]], Sonic is included in the Heroes group, meaning that he is only playable in certain events. In the Story Mode, Sonic arrives in [[London]] with Tails, where they find and clear up the red [[Phantasmal Fog]] at the [[Tower of London]], concluding that Bowser is involved. The next day, Sonic and Tails head to [[Tower Bridge]], where they find more Phantasmal Fog, and clear it up with the help of [[Yoshi]], [[Shadow (character)|Shadow]], [[Silver]] and [[Jet (Sonic the Hedgehog)|Jet]], fiding out from [[Bowser Jr.]] that Dr. Eggman is also partially responsible for the fog in the process. Sonic and Tails then move on to the [[British Museum]], where they team up with Mario, [[Luigi]] and [[Toad]] to clear the fog from the area and find out more about the fog. After gaining some more information, the group splits up, and Sonic heads to [[Horse Guards Parade]], where he finds Knuckles and [[Vector]] who help him fend off Bowser and clear the area of fog. Sonic then returns to the [[Main Stadium]] to meet up with the others, and helps save [[Cream (character)|Cream]] and [[Cheese (character)|Cheese]] from some [[imposter]]s when the fog returns. Sonic then heads to [[Stonehenge]] with Mario, Luigi, Toad, Tails and [[Omega]], where he defeats [[Kamek|Magikoopa]] in an Event, and after Omega recovers some memory, the group head to Big Ben to confront Bowser and Dr. Eggman. Brawl]]''. Sonic's design is based on more recent games at the time such as ''Sonic Colors'', which in turn are based on official 2D and CG artworks. The only major differences to Sonic's moveset is that his {{iw|smashwiki|down smash}} is a split-kick, and his Spin Dash is followed by a lunging kick afterwards. Sonic's moves inflict more {{iw|smashwiki|knockback}} whilst having a lower damage output. As Super Sonic, returns, he travels much faster than before but travels back and forth automatically at an adjustable height. Sonic's victory theme is slightly shorter than before, like several other returning fighters. Both of his home stages reappear, Green Hill Zone and Windy Hill Zone. Sonic receives benefits from universal changes, like other fighters, having much faster quick mobility; less {{iw|smashwiki|landing lag}} with his aerial attacks; a reduced {{iw|smashwiki|short hop}} timing; the ability to perform a directional air dodge; and the ability to use any grounded attack out of a run and any of his aerial attacks while climbing {{iw|smashwiki|Ladder (stage element)|ladder}}s. The sprite used for Sonic is 16-bit, rather than 8-bit, being based on his sprites from the original ''{{wp|Sonic the Hedgehog (1991 video game)|Sonic the Hedgehog}}'' game for the {{wp|Sega Genesis|Sega Genesis / Mega Drive}}. Collecting the Mystery Mushroom for this costume plays the jingle for earning a continue from said game, and all of Sonic's sound effects are taken from the original games. ==Personality==
Sonic’s personality is a juxtaposition of kindness and ferocity; while he does all in his power to snuff out evil, he also can’t look away when someone else is in trouble. His will and sense of morality have also been proven unshakeable, having fought the evil scientist Dr. Robotnik for many years, always foiling his plans to take over the world. Sonic doesn’t take anything for granted, especially his abilities, and acts as if he is obligated to protect the world simply because he is capable of doing so. Due to his knack for winning fights, Sonic commonly acts very cocky when faced with tasks most people would doubt anyone could accomplish, and therefore is also very determined, becoming extremely irritable if told he can’t do it or when pushed out of it for something of lesser importance. Not a fan of boredom, Sonic is a free spirit who let’s nothing hold him down, living a life of excitement and adventure.
