Sneeks are one of the weakest enemies in both games, and always move around in a back and forth pattern. In this regard, they behave as the successor of two rodent enemies: [[Neek]]s from ''[[Donkey Kong Country 2: Diddy's Kong Quest]]'' and [[Gnawty|Gnawties]] from ''[[Donkey Kong Country]]''. Sneeks appear in various environments, commonly mills, forests, jungles, and mountain ranges.

Contrasting Neeks' more cartoony appearance, Sneeks have a more realistic and menacing appearance. In ''Donkey Kong Country 3: Dixie Kong's Double Trouble!'', Sneeks have gray fur, although official artwork shows them with brown fur. Sneeks have a battered appearance due to having notches on both ears.

In ''Donkey Kong Country 3: Dixie Kong's Double Trouble!'', Sneeks play a major role in a few levels, the first of which is [[Murky Mill]]; the level shows that [[Ellie]] is scared of Sneeks. Since most of the level is dark, Ellie does not get scared of Sneeks unless they are shown underneath a spotlight. If Ellie approaches a Sneek under a spotlight, she gets scared and runs a short distance away. Ellie can only pass a Sneek in a spotlight if she picks up a nearby [[barrel]] and throws it at the enemy. [[Squeals on Wheels]] is the second level where Sneeks have a major appearance. In the level, each Sneek is running in a large, wooden mill. [[Dixie Kong]] and [[Kiddy Kong]] can only pass through a nearby gate if they defeat the Sneek corresponding to it. The [[Kong]]s can only defeat these Sneeks by throwing a [[Steel Keg]] at them. Every Sneek must be defeated for the final door to open. The third level is [[Stampede Sprint]], which also revolves around Ellie's fear of them. Near the start of the level, Ellie sees three Sneeks, which gives her a big scare. As a result, Ellie stampedes away for most of the level.

In [[Dixie Kong's Photo Album]], a photograph of Sneek appears under the "[[Terrorfirma Tuff Guys]]" enemy class.

In the [[Game Boy Advance]] remake, Sneeks have the same sound effect as Neeks from ''Donkey Kong Country 2: Diddy's Kong Quest''. In the original game, Sneeks are sped up and higher-pitched.
