'''Slipstreaming''' (also known as '''drafting''') is a technique often used in the [[Mario Kart (series)|''Mario Kart'']] series. It is present in ''[[Mario Kart 64]]'', ''[[Mario Kart DS]]'', ''[[Mario Kart Wii]]'', ''[[Mario Kart 7]]'', ''[[Mario Kart 8]]'', ''[[Mario Kart 8 Deluxe]]'', and ''[[Mario Kart Tour]]''. If a player trails behind another racer (or ''tailgates'') for a certain period of time, the player's vehicle will receive a speed boost similar to the [[Mini-Turbo]]. This can be used to ram the vehicle the player is slipstreaming behind and race ahead into a higher place. Slipstreaming is also useful when another player has been shrunk by [[Lightning]] or the [[Thunder Cloud]], and also when they are hit by the [[POW Block]] or [[Spiny Shell (blue)|Spiny Shell]].

Drafting is also possible in ''[[Mario Golf: Super Rush]]''. During Speed Golf or Battle Golf, if a player runs behind an opponent, blue streaks will start forming around them, and they will eventually gain a burst of speed.
