Simian Spring is a special ability used by Diddy Kong from a Diddy Pad in Donkey Kong 64. Diddy can learn this ability after buying a potion from Cranky's Lab in Frantic Factory for seven Banana Bunch Coins.
Simian Spring (Leapus Largium) is Diddy Kong's special pad ability in the game Donkey Kong 64. Diddy learns this ability when he buys a potion from Cranky Kong at his lab in Frantic Factory. When Diddy stands on a pad with his face on it, the player can press the n64 button to make him perform a high jump by springing off of the ground with his tail, which allows him to access areas that are difficult to reach. The potion that unlocks this move costs seven Banana Bunch Coins, and it is the last potion to be received by Cranky. The scientific name of this ability is Leapus Largium, a play on the words "Leap" and "Large".

When Diddy is standing on a Diddy Pad, the player can press n64 to make him spring off the ground with his tail and perform a high jump, allowing him to reach higher areas.
The scientific name of Simian Spring is Leapus Largium, a play on the words "Leap" and "Large".
The Simian Spring is one of three Cranky Kong moves that are not actually required to beat Donkey Kong 64, as it is not required in Hideout Helm or Diddy's section of the final battle against King K. Rool, nor is it required to rescue Tiny Kong or majorly advance in any level. The other two are Baboon Balloon and Strong Kong, which must be purchased anyway so that the Sprint and Gorilla Grab can be unlocked.

*The Simian Spring is similar in execution and function to the Shock Spring Jump from Banjo-Kazooie, another game developed by Rareware.
