The Shooting Star (known as the Twinkle Star in Japanese and British English) is a large outside drifting bike that appears in Mario Kart Wii. It resembles a motorized scooter, specifically a Suzuki Burgman. It has a Star on the front, a comet trail on its sides and exhaust pipes, and a gray wing on the handlebars. The emblem is located on the very back of the bike. It is unlocked by winning the 100cc Star Cup or by playing 1,500 races. The Shooting Star is one of seven vehicles in Mario Kart Wii to go through a design change other than a palette-swap, the others being the Booster Seat, Bit Bike, Flame Runner, Wario Bike, Spear, and Phantom. In this case, the star on the side of Rosalina's Shooting Star is larger than on the other characters'. Also, hers does not have a foot rest, as the others do. In a similar manner, Bowser's and Dry Bowser's Shooting Stars have their handlebars positioned lower than the other Shooting Stars.
The Twinkle Star (known as the Shooting Star in North America) is a bike that appears in Mario Kart Wii. It can only be used by large characters. It has a star on the front and a comet trail on its sides and exhaust pipes. It must first be unlocked by winning the 100cc Star Cup. It bears a resemblance to the Shooting Star kart from Mario Kart DS.

The Shooting Star's kart counterpart is the Honeycoupe.
The Twinkle Star has a good speed and weight, with a nice Drift and Mini-Turbo, which are tied with that of the Wild Wing.  It has the best drift and mini-turbo of any large class vehicle. On the other hand, its Off-Road, Acceleration, and Handling stats are quite low, and it is the lightest large vehicle in the game. The Twinkle Star shares its stats with the Honeycoupe.

Although the Shooting Star has a good drift and mini-turbo, it drifts externally instead of internally.

The Shooting Star has good speed (which is tied with that of the Super Blooper) and weight (tied with the Sprinter), along with great drift and Mini-Turbo, which are tied with that of the Wild Wing. Its mini-turbo is also tied with the Booster Seat. It has the best drift and mini-turbo of any large class vehicle. On the other hand, its off-road, acceleration (tied with the Sneakster, Mini Beast, and Piranha Prowler), and handling stats are low, and it is the lightest large vehicle in the game.
Color Schemes
*Wario (Yellow body, orange star, purple stripes and seat)
The Shooting Star is also the only large vehicle to be lighter than a medium vehicle. In this case, it is lighter than the Wild Wing, a medium kart.
*Waluigi (Dark purple body, yellow star, stripes and seat)

*Bowser (Dark Green body, yellow star and stripes, dark green seat)
Although the Shooting Star has good drift and mini-turbo, it is a Drift type bike, which means it drifts outside. In fact, it has the highest speed and drift stat among all the bikes that drift outward as well as being the only outward drifting bike to be faster than all six standard karts and bikes.
*Donkey Kong (Reddish-brown body, yellow star and stripes, dark brown seat)

*King Boo (Grayish-blue body, white star and stripes, red seat)
Compared to the Flame Runner, the Shooting Star is slower and lighter, but does slightly better in every other stat. As opposed to inside drift, it has outside drift.
*Rosalina (Turquoise body, yellow star, stripes and seat)

*Funky Kong (White body, red star and stripes, dark brown seat)
If Waluigi rides the Shooting Star, it will tie with the Mini Beast's default drift stat. Also, if Donkey Kong, Rosalina, or a Large Mii rides the Shooting Star, it will tie with the Mach Bike's default mini-turbo stat. In addition, if Wario or Dry Bowser ride the Shooting Star, its mini-turbo will exceed the Mini Beast's default mini-turbo stat by one point.
*Dry Bowser (Black body, white star and stripes, red seat)

*Male Mii (Black body, gold star and stripes, red seat)

Trivia
*The Shooting Star is the only vehicle other than the Booster Seat in Mario Kart Wii to go through a design change other than a palette-swap. In this case, the star on the side of Rosalina's shooting star is larger than on the other Shooting Stars. Also, Rosalina's does not have a foot rest, as the others do.
*The Shooting Star has a gray wing on the handle bars.
*The Twinkle Star has the highest drift stat among all the bikes that drift outward.
*The Twinkle Star's Acceleration is tied with that of the Piranha Prowler.
*Wario used this bike in the May 2008 1st competition.
*When this bike collides with another vehicle, the horn plays the first part of the overworld theme from Super Mario Bros..
*The Shooting Star is Waluigi's main bike.
