The team players look around, and they get surprised when the Bullet Bills (designed to resemble Banzai Bills) and Bob-ombs appear onscreen. The minigame is shown from an isometric perspective, and the team players are inside of an enclosed light-gray arena.

The solo player says a number from one to nine into the Mic to make Shy Guys shoot Bullet Bills or move Bob-ombs into an isometric arena, where the other three players must dodge them. If there is no Mic, the commands are selected from a blue box. If a player is touched by a Bullet Bill or if a Bob-omb explodes on them, they are out of the game. Also, if the solo player says "Zero" into the Mic, a group of three Thwomps falls in a random location. The solo player wins if they eliminate all the other players. The team players win if at least one of them survives for 60 seconds.
The solo player tries to remove the other three players by summoning any of a few enemy species and having them hit the team players. If the Mic option is on, the player can say any single-digit number into the Mic to summon either a Bullet Bill (which is shot by a Shy Guy), a Bob-omb, or three Thwomps, depending on the number said. However, Thwomps appear only if the player says "Zero", which is revealed as a hint from the Star Bank, so if the player's Mic option is off, they cannot choose Thwomps as a command from the blue box. If the solo player eliminates all three players, they win.

The team players have to try and avoid the enemies headed their way. If a team player touches an enemy, they are eliminated. If at least team player remains after the 60 seconds are over, they win.
