While getting strangled by Wariki's roots, Mario is saved by Chiyōrō-sama, who brings the Seigi no Ono to cut the evil roots. Mario tries to then use it against Wariki, but he slaps the axe away with his branch, causing it to drop into a lake, but Bowser, dressed up as the fairy in The Honest Woodcutter story, gives it back. However, with Wariki's roots cut off, he starts flying like a helicopter over Wario's Woods. To bring him down, Bowser tosses Mario and the axe at Wariki. He dodges them, but due to Bowser's strength, they end up flying around the world; Mario ultimately throws the axe at Wariki, defeating him.

With Wariki's defeat, Wario returns to his human form, but still has the axe planted in his head, which frightens everyone.
