U]]''. Like a teeter-totter, Seesaw Shrooms tilt when a player character stands on their cap. They otherwise appear static or subtly sway. Enemies and objects do not affect the balancing of the platforms. Seesaw Shrooms contrast with [[tilting mushroom]]s, which sway back and forth on their own volition.

Seesaw Shrooms appear only in the sky-themed level [[World 4-2 (New Super Mario Bros.)|World 4-2]]. In this game, they have purple caps with yellow spots. Standing on one causes the stalk to also shift slightly in the direction the cap angles. They are of varying widths and heights, and some have [[Goomba]]s or red [[Koopa Troopa]]s walking on their caps. The second [[Star Coin]] of the level occurs underneath one of the Seesaw Shrooms and it can be collected if the mushroom is tilted rightward. A [[Red Ring]] in this level causes [[Red Coin]]s to appear among a cluster of varyingly heighted Seesaw Shrooms. The mushrooms subsequently appear in [[World 6-B (New Super Mario Bros.)|World 6-B]], where they bridge [[slope]]d [[ice|ice patches]].

In ''New Super Mario Bros. U'' and [[New Super Mario Bros. U Deluxe|its reissue]], Seesaw Shrooms are orange with a visible pivot at the center of their cap. They appear in different sizes and can be almost as wide as the screen. Seesaw Shrooms are encountered in the [[Seesaw Shrooms (level)|level of the same name]], {{world link|coin|3|World Coin-3 (New Super Mario Bros. U)}}, and the Time Attack Challenge [[Rickety Sprint]].

Seesaw Shrooms are one of the few objects in ''New Super Mario Bros. U'' to not appear in ''[[New Super Luigi U]]'', but a [[Seesaw Shroom (blue)|slippery blue variant]] appears in the snow-themed level [[Cooligan Shrooms]].
