| | Sea Urchins are purple, spiky aquatic enemies with large cartoonish eyes. Sea Urchin cannot be touched or defeated normally, unless Cranky Kong uses his cane to attack them. They usually are found in groups, being carried by currents or floating aimlessly in the ocean water. |

A [[Kong]] takes damage upon touching a Sea Urchin, due to its spikes. Sea Urchins can be defeated only from [[Cranky Kong]]'s cane. They usually appear in groups, moving about individually or by the force of water currents. Sea Urchins most commonly appear in [[level]]s of [[Sea Breeze Cove]], although they first appear in [[Lost Mangroves]]' boss stage, [[Big Top Bop]], where [[Pompy]] occasionally throws Sea Urchins onto the stage. When this occurs, the Sea Urchin bounces along the ground a few times before retreating back into the water. In [[Fugu Face-Off]], the boss level of Sea Breeze Cove, [[Fugu]] spits out Sea Urchins as projectiles.

| Sea Urchins are not to be confused with other urchin-like balls encountered in the game. The appearance of those is closer to that of real-life sea urchins, as they lack eyes and seem more rigid. They can be destroyed only when found above the water, such as in [[Rockin' Relics]], using a [[Cane Bounce]].
