The main gimmicks of the course are [[Screwtop Platform]]s, which move when the bolt on top is spun by the player. [[Sumo Bro]]s. make their only appearance in this course, and their lightning electrocutes the platforms below instead of causing a wave of fire. The orange platforms from [[World 2-2 (New Super Mario Bros.)|World 2-2]] of ''[[New Super Mario Bros.]]'' also make their return here.
The level begins outside the tower, with a [[Screwtop Lift]], a platform that moves when the bolt on top is spun by the player, leading to a [[Warp Pipe]]. Inside the tower, [[Bony Beetle]]s are found on two [[floor (Mario Bros.)|floor]]s. Two more Screwtop Lifts are in the section that follows, as well as Bony Beetles on platforms.
