Screech has an identical role between both games, where he appears at the second half of his own level, [[Screech's Sprint]], where the [[Kong]]s must enter an [[Animal Barrel]] to transform into [[Squawks]] to race Screech, both of which compete to cross the finish line first. The race ends when either Screech or Squawks crosses the line first. If Screech wins, the Kongs lose a life. In the ending's Cast of Characters, Screech is categorized under [[Lazy Landlubbers]]. Squawks appears in two pieces of promotional artwork, including the game cover, where he fights Squawks using a baseball bat, and in a bramble area, where [[Diddy Kong|Diddy]] and [[Dixie Kong|Dixie]] are seen passing by him.

Though, Squawks has four claws on each talon, Screech only has three. He has a red and yellow tail with brown and red wings. Screech also has a white beak.
