Luigi met Screamy while looking for a piece of the [[List of implied items#Marvelous Compass|Marvelous Compass]] in [[List of implied locations#Rapturous Ruins|Rapturous Ruins]]. It is unknown why or how Screamy joined up with Luigi as Luigi does not say and the most Screamy explains is "I must deliver something". His name and appearance invoke a scoop of ice cream or whipped cream in keeping with the dessert theme of Luigi's adventure, or a spirit of some sort.
