When Wendy is fought aboard her [[airship]] in {{world link|3|airship3|World 3-Airship (Super Mario Bros. 3)}}, she shoots candy rings at [[Mario]] or [[Luigi]]; Wendy creates one at the beginning of the fight, and she creates another after each [[stomp]]. Up to three candy rings can be onscreen at once; unlike [[Koopalings|her brothers']] magic blasts, they do not leave the arena, instead bouncing off the walls, ceiling, and floor at right angles. The candy rings disappear only when she is defeated. They are named "candy rings" in this appearance for their red and white stripes, much like a candy cane.

Energy rings return in ''[[New Super Mario Bros. U]]'', however Wendy does not create them using her Magic Wand. During her boss fight, Wendy now throws two energy rings at a time, using them to knock loose the [[icicle]]s hanging from the ceiling of her boss arena. After being stomped twice, she throws three energy rings.

In ''[[Super Mario Maker 2]]'' versions 3.0.0 and later, Wendy shoots rings out of her wand in all game styles she is available in. In the ''[[Super Mario Bros.]]'', ''Super Mario Bros. 3'', and ''[[Super Mario World]]'' styles, they take their candy ring design from ''Super Mario Bros. 3'' and also flash pink and cyan, while in the ''New Super Mario Bros. During her boss fight in ''[[Mario & Luigi: Superstar Saga]]'' and its remake, ''[[Mario & Luigi: Superstar Saga + Bowser's Minions]]'', Wendy flings large glowing rings at Mario and Luigi. They must be dodged by [[jump]]ing twice, and they may inflict the [[Heavy G]] status if they hit. As of the original game, they are now golden, matching her bracelets, instead of red and white.

In ''Mario & Luigi: Superstar Saga'', the rings attempt to hit the Mario Bros. by floating towards them; Wendy then raises her hands again, causing them to close in and shrink on the Mario Bros. In the remake, Wendy now constantly attacks alongside her doppelgangers, and they each create a ring before sending them at the Mario Bros. in a certain order; once all the rings have surrounded them both, each Wendy then closes the rings in the same order, requiring Mario and Luigi to jump over them accordingly.

In the remake's ''Minion Quest'' sub-mode, Wendy also uses her rings to attack, and they return to her like boomerangs.

Dr. Wendy uses her rings as part of her skill, sans wand. In stage mode an animation shows a ring enter the stage and disappear. Then rings appear over up to 10 [[brick Block|block]]s, either breaking them or collecting a coin from them. In versus mode rings appear over a number of [[virus]]es in the opponent's stage and put them into blocks. The amount of viruses affected by this skill differ based on Dr. Wendy's level.
