It appears during a [[Wonder Effect]] in [[Color-Switch Dungeon]] and [[Beware of the Rifts]], in which it follows the player around the level and vanishes after a [[Wonder Seed]] is retrieved. Any collision with Rift Mario will cause the player to take damage. It can travel through blocks or obstacles if the player puts them in its way, but it can be stunned by fireballs from [[Fire Mario]] or [[POW Block]]s. Hitting Rift Mario with 50 [[fireball]]s defeats it.

Rift Mario is very similar in both function and appearance to both [[Cosmic Clone]]s and [[Cosmic Mario]].
