In ''Paper Mario: The Thousand-Year Door'' and [[Paper Mario: The Thousand-Year Door (Nintendo Switch)|its Nintendo Switch remake]], Red Chomps are a weaker version of normal Chain Chomps, effectively replacing [[Stone Chomp]]s from the first ''[[Paper Mario]]''. Both the [[tattle]] and [[Tattle Log|log]] descriptions joke that their coloration is due to being painted in their sleep. They are first seen in the [[Glitz Pit]], during Chapter 3, as members of the Major League team called [[Chomp Country]]. Before the battle, a cake sent by [[Rawk Hawk]] is delivered to Mario's team, and if Mario decides to eat the cake, all of his partners will be unavailable for this battle due to the cake being poisoned. Their initial ranking is 2, but they eventually downgrade to Rank 3 after [[Mario]]'s victory over them. Several Red Chomps can also be found in the [[Pit of 100 Trials (Paper Mario: The Thousand-Year Door)|Pit of 100 Trials]], on floors 54 and 59. These enemies are immune to fire attacks and they have a high defense rating.

Red Chomps also appear in ''[[Super Paper Mario]]'', and are found in the [[Castle Bleck Interior]] and [[Castle Bleck Inner Sanctum|inner sanctum]]. In Chapter 8-3, several Red Chomps are hiding in the basements. Unlike in the previous ''[[Paper Mario (series)|Paper Mario]]'' game, Red Chomps are stronger than regular Chain Chomps. This time, the tattle attributes their color to a craving for pizza sauce.

Red Chomps are also the last type of enemy encountered during the [[Flipside Pit of 100 Trials]] before the [[Wracktail]] fight; they are found in the 98th room. One of the [[Underchomp]]'s heads resembles a Red Chomp as well.

In the [[Pyramid Park]] board of ''[[Mario Party 7]]'', a single Red Chomp is located on the left side of the board, and its palace is larger and more detailed than the huts that house the regular Chain Chomps. It is also much less accessible than the other Chomps. For 10 [[coin]]s, it will let a player use three [[Dice Block]]s and ride on it, moving that many spaces around the board, whereas the other Chomps offer only one Dice Block for the same amount of coins. If the Red Chomp manages to ram another player, a [[Star (Mario Party series)|star]] is stolen from the victim and given to the player riding the Chomp. 

If the players have a [[Snack Orb]] activated before the Red Chomp is about to ram into them, it will avoid them to go after the bone to prevent them from losing their star from being stolen.
