| |
| In Paper Mario: The Thousand-Year Door and its Nintendo Switch remake, Red Chomps are a weaker version of normal Chain Chomps, effectively replacing Stone Chomps from the first Paper Mario. Both the tattle and log descriptions joke that their coloration is due to being painted in their sleep. They are first seen in the Glitz Pit, during Chapter 3, as members of the Major League team called Chomp Country. Before the battle, a cake sent by Rawk Hawk is delivered to Mario's team, and if Mario decides to eat the cake, all of his partners will be unavailable for this battle due to the cake being poisoned. Their initial ranking is 2, but they eventually downgrade to Rank 3 after Mario's victory over them. Several Red Chomps can also be found in the Pit of 100 Trials, on floors 54 and 59. These enemies are immune to fire attacks and they have a high defense rating.

| | Red Chomps, as their name implies, are red-colored Chain Chomps introduced in Paper Mario: The Thousand-Year Door. Though in that game they are weaker than their black counterparts, they have the same attack pattern as regular Chomps: they lunge at their opponents in order to bite them. Red Chomps are first seen in the Glitz Pit, during Chapter 3, as members of the Major League team called Chomp Country. Their initial ranking is 2, but they eventually downgrade to Rank 3 after Mario's victory over Rawk Hawk. Several Red Chomps can also be found in the Pit of 100 Trials, on floors 54 and 59. These enemies are immune to fire attacks and they have a high defense rating. |
| Red Chomps also appear in Super Paper Mario, and are found in the Castle Bleck Interior and inner sanctum. In Chapter 8-3, several Red Chomps are hiding in the basements. Unlike in the previous Paper Mario game, Red Chomps are stronger than regular Chain Chomps. This time, the tattle attributes their color to a craving for pizza sauce. | |
|
| |
|
| Red Chomps are also the last type of enemy encountered during the Flipside Pit of 100 Trials before the Wracktail fight; they are found in the 98th room. One of the Underchomp's heads resembles a Red Chomp as well.

| | A Red Chomp is featured in the Pyramid Park board of Mario Party 7. It is located on the left side of the board, and its palace is larger and more detailed than the huts that house the regular Chomps. It is also much less accessible than the other Chomps. For 10 coins, it will let a player use three Dice Blocks and ride on it, moving that many spaces around the board, whereas the other Chomps charge 30 coins for the same amount of dice, and offer only 1 Dice Block for the same amount of coins. If the Red Chomp manages to ram another player, a star is stolen from the victim and given to the player riding the Chomp. |

Otherwise, Red Chomps are found in Castle Bleck Interior and inner sanctum. In Chapter 8-3, several Red Chomps are hiding in the basements. Unlike in the previous Paper Mario game, Red Chomps are actually stronger than regular Chain Chomps. |

| In the Pyramid Park board of Mario Party 7, a single Red Chomp is located on the left side of the board, and its palace is larger and more detailed than the huts that house the regular Chain Chomps. It is also much less accessible than the other Chomps. For 10 coins, it will let a player use three Dice Blocks and ride on it, moving that many spaces around the board, whereas the other Chomps offer only one Dice Block for the same amount of coins. If the Red Chomp manages to ram another player, a star is stolen from the victim and given to the player riding the Chomp.
| |
| | |
| If the players have a Snack Orb activated before the Red Chomp is about to ram into them, it will avoid them to go after the bone to prevent them from losing their star from being stolen.

| |
| *In Super Mario Sunshine, when Chain Chomplets and the Chain Chomp have a fever, their metal bodies and chains are colored flame-red.
| |
| *When a Chain Chomp gets angry, they can change their body color red, such as in Mario Power Tennis along with its Wii port and Mario Party 8 minigame Chain-Chomp Challenge and the extra minigame Chomping Frenzy respectively, strongly resembling Red Chomps.
| |
| *When a Yoshi throws a red yarn ball at a Frame Chomp in Yoshi's Woolly World and its 3DS port, the Chomp Rock resembles a Red Chomp. Red-colored Chomp Rocks can also be found in some levels.
