Queen Jaydes is the kindhearted (yet strict) queen of The Underwhere in Super Paper Mario. She is the mother figure to Luvbi, raising her with Grambi.  She resides near the entrance to The Underwhere, at the other side of River Twygz. She is pampered by her busy D-Men while she keeps watch on those who have received a Game Over. As the ruler of The Underwhere, she possesses power over life and death. Queen Jaydes gets her name from the god of the underworld in Greek mythology, Hades, as well as "jaded", which means "unenthused" or "bored" (both of which are qualities that she possesses). She also bears some resemblance to the Shadow Queen from the previous game.

History
Queen Jaydes is a very powerful woman.  Not only is she able to send those who were wrongly sent to the Underwhere back to the mortal world, but she is able to revitalize and transform Pure Hearts.  She revitalized the Pure Heart found in Sammer's Kingdom, and years ago had transformed her Pure Heart into Luvbi to protect it. Eventually, Queen Jaydes felt a mother-daughter bond between herself and Luvbi, and was very sad when Luvbi had to change back.

Mario first meets Queen Jaydes after being sent to The Underwhere by Dimentio; after sensing the energy given off by the weakened Pure Heart that he had brought with him, she learns that a Nimbi from The Overthere named Luvbi has disappeared and asks that Mario aid in the search for her. After reuniting with his brother and returning with Luvbi, Mario learns that she is actually Jaydes' daughter — as thanks for locating her, the queen returns to Mario the revitalized Pure Heart, having used her power to restore it to life, and grants the two heroes a "Continue" in order to return them to Flipside.

Upon returning to The Underwhere in search of the next Pure Heart, Mario, Luigi, and Tippi are asked by Queen Jaydes to escort Luvbi to her father, Grambi, in the Overthere, in the wake of a powerful monster's escape from its prison. Queen Jaydes does not appear again until the very end of Chapter 7, where she reveals alongside her husband that Luvbi is the final Pure Heart, disguised as a Nimbi for its own protection. After assuring Luvbi of their love for her and witnessing her transform back into her original form, Jaydes returns to The Underwhere, saddened by the loss of her daughter.
Queen Jaydes's magic chant is very similar to that used by the Merluvlee featured in the game.

Following the defeat of the final boss, Jaydes travels to The Overthere upon hearing that Luvbi has been restored to life. There, she promises to give Luvbi as much love as she can and encourages the heroes to come visit her for judgement when their games end, as thanks for their hard work.
Trivia
left
* Queen Jaydes was probably based on three Greek gods: Persephone, a goddess who became the wife of Hades, the god of the dead; Hera, the goddess of the home and wife of Zeus, the ruler of Mount Olympus (Queen Jaydes is married to King Grambi, the ruler of the Overthere); and Hades, the god of the dead. There is also probable influence from the Norse death goddess Hel, who presided over a gloomy  realm sharing her name.
* Queen Jaydes' name is a corruption of "Hades".  The "Hades" in question may be the name of the Underworld, or the name of the God of the Dead (both have the same name).
* When Jaydes is bringing Mario and Luigi back to Flipside before Chapter 7-1, she says "GAMEOVER" exactly 5 times and then says "Continue!" making a magical portal appear and send them to Flipside. This is a reference to the times when in some games, after the player gets a Game Over. If the player has extra lives the player can choose to continue their game.
