Protobatters have spherical, cream-colored bodies with a black "o"-shaped mouth, a pair of simplistic arms, brown, shoe-like feet, and raised, black eyes. They wield black clubs with white spikes.
==Battle==
Protobatters attack by spitting out a piece of batter and slamming it with its club at the Mario Bros. The direction it holds its club indicates which one of the Bros. will be attacked, and it may miss the swing up to two times in an attempt to lower the player's guard. This attack can be countered with the [[hammer]]. Protobatters will also grow up to two to three times larger whenever [[Mario]] and [[Luigi]] attack them.
