The Mushroom Kingdom queen[1] is the mother of Princess Peach.

While the Mushroom King is mentioned in both the Super Mario Bros. international instruction booklet and in the How to win at Super Mario Bros. guide, the queen appears in the latter, despite the lack of a mention of her character.[2] In the sole picture she appears in, just like her husband and daughter, she is depicted as a Toad (or a human with a Toad headwear), with a veil covering her hair. She also wears a crown and a cape. This exact design (colors aside) is used for her other two depictions.

She also appears at the end of the Super Mario Bros. story in Hisshō Technique Kan Peki-ban, bidding farewell to Mario with the rest of the grateful kingdom.

The queen makes a major appearance in the third episode of Miracle Peach. To celebrate Hinamatsuri, the queen brings out her dolls and asks Peach to look after them. While the queen goes away to run an errand, Mario and Bowser approach Peach to help her, but they start bickering and fighting, breaking the dolls. Seeing her mother arriving, Peach uses her Kinono Statis to cover up the damage and turn Mario and Bowser into Hinamatsuri dolls. Despite feeling that something is off, especially in the two new dolls, she does not discover what happened to her dolls, much to Peach's relief.

The queen is briefly mentioned with the king in The Official Nintendo Player's Guide[1] and is also mentioned in one story from Nintendo Comics System where is stated that Princess Toadstool inherited her custom to say "Bummer".[citation needed]
