Princess Shroob starts the fight in her levitating throne, which will cause non-aerial attacks to miss. Her throne generates a forcefield that completely nullifies all damage, but can be slowly weakened with enough attacks, starting off blue before changing to green, yellow, and then red before shattering. The force field's durability is based off of the number of individual strikes rather than actual damage dealt, so multi-hitting attacks such as [[Copy Flower]]s and [[Trampoline]]s are effective.  
Princess Shroob starts the fight in her levitating throne, with a force field that can be destroyed by jumping attacks; the force field is used for attacks twice each turn, firing laser beams of varying heights. Shroob can also attack using mechanical limbs sprouting from the underside of throne as she advances over a pair of brothers, firing laser rings directly downwards that enclose them from the outside; the targets can dodge this attack by jumping over each ring, and being hit may inflict the [[Trip]]ped status. After the laser barrage, Princess Shroob uses the throne to try and crush the brothers directly, with the throne rising up and down three times before dropping onto the target pair; if she laughs afterward, the mech delays before dropping. The attack must be countered by the [[Hammer]], and being hit can render the target [[Dizzy]].


While in the forcefield, Princess Shroob has two attacks. The first is to shoot lasers at both of the Bros. at the same time. Depending on whether the laser gun is pointing up or down, Mario and Luigi must either jump or remain in place to avoid the lasers, which she shoots multiple times in one turn.
Once the Mario Bros. disable her forcefield, the throne is also disabled and re-activates after two turns, forcing Princess Shroob to attack more directly. During this phase, she uses a different set of attacks, teleporting around the arena while firing energy blasts at the Bros., with her arm gestures telegraphing which brother is the target; if she points straight forward, the star first attacks Mario; if she points downwards, it attacks Luigi. She can shoot a lone fast energy ball at one brother, stand in the middle of the room and shoot a storm of energy balls, or hover in the air and rain energy balls downwards; Princess Shroob can also launch an energy [[Star]] that encircles the arena, traveling faster and faster until it strikes a brother, which can cause [[POW-Down|random]] [[DEF-Down|stat]] [[SPD-Down|decreases]], or is stomped on. It can also alter its speed to catch the group off-guard.
