'''Popping Balloons''' is a [[Mini Battle]] from ''[[Super Mario World 2: Yoshi's Island]]'' and its [[reissue]], ''[[Yoshi's Island: Super Mario Advance 3]]''. Here, a [[Yoshi (species)|Yoshi]] has a contest with a [[Bandit]] to see who can pop the [[Balloon (Mini Battle)|balloon]] with the [[Special Item (Yoshi's Island series)|Special Item]] in it. To pop a balloon, the Yoshi must [[Ground Pound|ground-pound]] it. This is the only Mini Battle that requires luck, since the player cannot see which balloon holds the Special Item. If the player pops the correct balloon, they will get either a [[10-Point Star]] or a [[20-Point Star]]. However, if the Bandit pops the correct balloon, the player will lose.

This Mini Battle can be played behind the locked doors of shacks in the stages [[Visit Koopa And Para-Koopa]], [[Monkeys' Favorite Lake]], [[Lake Shore Paradise]], and, only in the original SNES version, [[Scary Skeleton Goonies!]]
