'''Poltergust 5000''', or '''A-1''', is the first mission of the [[Gloomy Manor]], let alone ''[[Luigi's Mansion: Dark Moon]]'' and ''[[Luigi's Mansion 2 HD]]''. It starts with [[Professor E. Gadd]] sending [[Luigi]] off to recover the [[Poltergust 5000]] in order to equip Luigi for the journey ahead.

==Layout==
Luigi walks into the gates of Gloomy Manor to enter the [[Front Yard]], but the gates close on him. Luigi tries entering Gloomy Manor, but he realizes it is locked. After looking through a window nearby, Luigi encounters a [[mouse]], which scurries out with a [[key]] in its tail. Luigi obtains the key and unlocks the door to the [[Entrance]]. Luigi goes into the [[Garage (Luigi's Mansion: Dark Moon)|Garage]] and obtains the Poltergust 5000 in the compartment of a car. E. Gadd provides instructions on using it and asks Luigi to try using it in the Garage. Luigi can obtain another key from a chest, after vacuuming the sheet off of it. Back at the Entrance, Luigi vacuums a carpet blocking the door to the [[Mudroom]], and its corresponding key is on top of a ceiling fan. After obtaining it, several [[Spider (Luigi's Mansion series)|spiders]] come down, though interacting with them is optional. Luigi uses the key to unlock the Guard Hall, where he sees a few Greenies causing mischief before they escape into the next room, the [[Foyer (Luigi's Mansion: Dark Moon)|Foyer]]. By dodging the suits of armor and reaching the other side, Luigi stumbles into the Foyer, where he witnesses two Greenies pointing to the [[Strobulb]], which is on top of a chandelier. Luigi goes to the second floor, spins the blade using his Poltergust, and then acquires the Strobulb from the first floor after lowering the chandelier, althought it rises again if Luigi takes too long. Luigi flashes the Strobulb on a switch on a door, unlocking it, and enters the [[Coatroom]]. As Luigi inspects the toilet, the wall rotates and throws him into a hidden bathroom. After vacuuming the shower curtain, Luigi startles a Greenie taking a shower. He is given a jump scare, and the Greenie escapes the other room. When Luigi tries to leave this room, a gate obstructs the door and Greenies appear. Luigi defeats the Greenies, allowing him to re-enter the Foyer. Luigi defeats more Greenies there and completes the mission.

In subsequent replays, once the [[Dark-Light Device]] is obtained, Luigi can reveal a [[Boo]] in the Garage, from a hidden wheel near the door.
