The Plunder Chest is an item in Mario Party 2, Mario Party 3, Mario Party Superstars  and  Super Mario Party Jamboree. It is a treasure chest that can steal an item from another player. In Mario Party 2 and Mario Party 3, it is Princess Peach's favorite item.

In Mario Party 2, when used, the Plunder Chest steals an item from another player, chosen at random out of all opponents that have items. The stolen item can then be used immediately (unless it is a Bowser Bomb), or held for a later turn as usual.
In Mario Party 2, when used, the Plunder Chest randomly chooses another player who is holding an item, steals their item, and gives it to the player unless only one other player has an item at the time. The stolen item can be used on the same turn; Bowser Bombs, however, cannot be manually used. In Mario Party 3 and all succeeding games, players can choose who they want to steal from; however, if the person being targeted has two or three items, the stolen item is picked randomly. There is also a much rarer version of the Plunder Chest in Mario Party 3, called the Barter Box, which swaps all of the player's items with all of the targeted player's items.

In Mario Party 3 and all later games, the Plunder Chest steals a random item from an opponent of the user's choosing, and the received item cannot be used on the same turn.
In Mario Party Superstars, the Plunder Chest is normally exclusive to Item Minigames; however, it can be purchased from the Forest Shop in Woody Woods for 20 coins, hence why it is not a special item. The Hidden-Block Card shares the same trait.
