Donut Lifts]] and then appear occasionally afterwards, small ones appear in [[Prince Froggy's Fort]], [[More Monkey Madness]], and [[Danger - Icy Conditions Ahead]]. While big paddle wheels are green in color, small ones are magenta in color.

In ''[[Mario Kart 8 Deluxe]]'', the {{wp|windpump}} in the [[Yoshi's Island (race course)|Yoshi's Island]] race course plays the sound effect as the paddle wheels in this game.

Paddle wheels reappear in ''[[Yoshi's Island DS]]'', behaving the same as in their debut game. While the large ones first appear in [[Castle of the Big Burt Bros.]] and appear occasionally throughout, small ones are slightly less common now, first appearing in [[Castle of Priscilla the Peckish]]. While large paddle wheels on tracks are still green, the large stationary paddle wheels are now yellow. Additionally, a new variety of paddle wheel with a pivot point resembling the spokes of a pedal-powered vehicle is showcased in [[Six-Face Sal's Fort]] and also occasionally appears in [[At Last, Bowser's Castle!]]; when turned, they cause certain mechanisms to move.

They are about as common as they were in ''Yoshi's New Island'' but made of yellow and green yarn; three appear in the first half of [[Rollin' Down the River]], one appears near the end of [[Frozen Solid and Chilled]], and two each appear near the beginning and near the end of [[Kamek's Last-Ditch Flyby]]. In ''[[Donkey Kong Country Returns]]'', its [[Nintendo 3DS]] [[Donkey Kong Country Returns 3D|port]], and its [[Nintendo Switch]] [[Donkey Kong Country Returns HD|port]]., Paddle Platform like objects appear in the level [[Foggy Fumes]]. Here, they are sets of four platforms attached to each of a fan's four blades in the background. Foggy Fumes is a silhouette level, so only their silhouettes can be seen.  Some of the fans have a blade that is damaged, and therefore only have three platforms. Items can be found on these platforms, like [[Banana]]s and a [[Puzzle Piece (Donkey Kong Country series)|Puzzle Piece]]. The [[Cloud (cover)|fog]] all across the level can hide the platforms, including their items, from view.

Paddle Platforms have a number of different roles. Some of them have a finite number of Bananas]pop out and fly in an arc as they spin, aimed to the left and right based on the direction they are turning. Counterclockwise turns toss Bananas to the left, clockwise turns toss Bananas to the right. The stream of Bananas ends on a [[Banana Coin]]. If all Bananas and Banana Coins are collected from a single one of these fans, an item appears in the center to collect. Normally, this is a [[Red Balloon]], but in one case a Puzzle Piece appears. At one point of the level, a fan has to be turned to move a wall out of the main path. When the wall has moved as far as it can go in one direction, the fan does stops moving in that direction. Counterclockwise turns move the wall away, clockwise turns return it to the base position. Left alone, the weight of the wall forces the platforms to turn clockwise.

At the end of the level, the player has to [[Hand Slap|Ground Pound]] a large red button, which moves a plug downward to complete a circuit. This turns on all the fans in the level, including these fans, and blows away the fog. This turns the level from a silhouette level into a normal level. These platforms cannot be interacted with after pushing the button, as triggering the button starts a cutscene that ends with the player forced inside a [[Barrel Cannon]] that sends them to a final section of the level. Said section has none of these fans and no way to return to an earlier point. The fans are also kept out of view as the fog clears.
