'''P-Down, D-Up''' is a [[badge]] in ''[[Paper Mario]]'' and ''[[Paper Mario: The Thousand-Year Door]]'', having the antithesis of the effects of a [[P-Up, D-Down]]. In ''Paper Mario'', it is found in the [[Crystal Palace]], through a boarded-up hole in the floor (which can only be removed using [[Mario]]'s [[Ground Pound|Spin Jump]]) and past a colony of [[Swoopula]]s. In ''Paper Mario: The Thousand-Year Door'', it is found in the [[Pirate's Grotto]], behind some boxes in the same area where Mario gets his [[Boat Mode]] ability, and can be rarely dropped by or stolen from [[Dark Craw]]s and [[X-Naut PhD]]s. If equipped by Mario, it reduces the damage Mario receives by one and lessens his power by one, lowering the damage of all of his [[jump]] and [[hammer]] attacks. This badge functions differently from Defend Plus in that it does not increase Mario’s Defense. It instead lowers the damage Mario receives by one. This is preferable as there are many attacks in the game that pierce defense. Equipping only one of these badges grants Mario immunity from all attacks from the audience and most stage hazards. The badge's effects stack if multiple copies of it are equipped, though Mario's attack power cannot go below one.
