If Mario is equipped with the badge, the background music and item collection sound effects will adjust to their original versions from the original GameCube version of the game, similar to the feature in the Nintendo Switch remake of Super Mario RPG. The selection or deselection of the badge takes effect the moment the pause menu is closed. Not all music is affected, as entirely new tracks that are not arrangements of past tracks will continue to play even while the badge is equipped, such as when the X-Nauts attack Keelhaul Key. | If Mario is equipped with the badge, the background music and item collection sound effects will adjust to their original versions from the original GameCube version of the game, similar to the feature in the Nintendo Switch remake of Super Mario RPG. While the badge is equipped, the Sound Gallery goes into a Nostalgic Tunes mode, indicated by the badge's icon in the upper-right corner of the screen. Selecting songs will play their version from the original game, while the new songs exclusive to the remake will be visibly grayed out and cannot be played. Since this badge can only be used once a file has been selected, this is the only way to hear the original themes prior to it, such as the title screen and menu themes, by completing the game and selecting the Special section. | While the badge is equipped, the Sound Gallery goes into a Nostalgic Tunes mode, indicated by the badge's icon in the upper-right corner of the screen.
