Nintendo Homepage Kaisetsu 1 Shūnen Kikaku was a project on the official Japanese Nintendo website, made to commemorate the first anniversary of the webpage. The project involved having children of elementary school age or younger have photographs of them submitted to Nintendo to appear on the main page of the website. The photographs would then be superimposed over a pre-existing background featuring Mario, Yoshi, Dixie Kong, Chunky Kong, and Fox. The webpage was updated six times throughout the designated time period, with eight children appearing on the webpage in total. The webpage was updated each Friday every week for six weeks. Applicants were only allowed to submit photos of their family members, and photos of anyone else would be declined.

Nintendo provided a list of dates that each set of images would be available from the website.

Photo guidelines[edit]

Please select a color photo of your child, from service version size to cabinet size, that clearly shows the child from the knees up, and where the boundary between the child and the background is as clear as possible. A cute pose or a photo of the child facing slightly diagonally is fine. Please look at the sample page and make your decision. (Printed images from a laser color printer or digital camera data will not be accepted.) We will do our best to correct the image quality, etc., but if there are any cases where the focus or color tone cannot be corrected, then unfortunately we will have to mark the image as "inaccurate."
