Overview
Gameplay
The gameplay involves players staying on the same-colored Mushroom Platforms as Toad's flag, then the other Mushroom Platforms slowly sink. The speed increases as the minigame progresses. Players can ground-pound their opponents to stun them temporarily. A Blooper takes away anyone who fall into the water, removing that player from the minigame. The last player remaining wins, but if all players fall into the water, the end results is a draw.

Players have to stay on the same colored mushrooms as Toad's flag. The other colored mushrooms will then slowly sink. Falling into the water results in a Blooper appearing and carrying the player away. Players can hip-drop their opponents to stun them temporarily. The longer the players stay in the minigame, the faster the colored mushrooms sink down as Toad keeps changing his flag. The last player standing wins the minigame.

The minigame can be purchased from the Mini-Game House for 50 Coins.

Mushroom Mix-Up costs 50 coins to buy at the Mini-Game House in Mario Party.
The minigame Hexagon Heat from Mario Party 2 follows the same rules.

In Mario Party Superstars, if two or more players stay in the minigame for a long time, a 30-second timer pops up, and any players left when the timer expires wins, similarly to Shy Guy Says. Even if all players fall into the water, the last to do so is the winner. Toad claps if a player wins, is shocked if they win after falling into the water, or shrugs if the end result is a draw.
In Mario Party Superstars, the mushrooms all bear patterns on them to make them more easily distinguishable, not unlike Hexagon Heat in Mario Party: The Top 100. The yellow mushroom has vertical lines, the red mushroom has four dots, the blue mushroom has three dots, the white mushroom has diagonal lines, the green mushroom has six dots, the purple mushroom has seven dots (one being big while the others are small), and the pink mushroom has zigzags.

Notes
*The minigame Hexagon Heat from Mario Party 2 follows the same rules.
*If the minigame lasts too long, the movement of Mushroom Platforms gets so fast that players can survive by just jumping at the right time, or even without jumping at all.
**In unlocalized releases, if the remaining players keep ground-pounding, the Mushroom Platforms move so fast that even doing nothing makes the players survive.
