The item "softens" enemies, thus reducing their [[DEF-Down|defense]] by three points (but will not allow DEF to go below 0). This item can also be cooked by mixing a [[Courage Shell]] and a [[Point Swap]]. Conversely, cooking a Mr. Softener with almost any type of [[Mushroom]] results in a [[Dried Mushroom]].
