Monolifts are small mountain-shaped enemies with hands that appear in Mario & Luigi: Dream Team. They appear only on Mount Pajamaja. Their name is pun on "monolift rack", where barbells are placed on, fitting with the "strength" theme of Mount Pajamaja, and "monolith", a type of stone. It also references the partner attack it shares with a different enemy, Grumbell. A variation, called Block Monolift, appear in the boss battle against Mammoshka. A stronger version of these enemies, named Monolifts R appear later on in the game.
Monolifts are small mountain-shaped creatures with hands that appear in Mario & Luigi: Dream Team. In the field, Monolifts carry rocks, and upon sighting Mario and Luigi, will chase them for a short duration and throw a rock at them as a last effort to attack them.

In the field, Monolifts carry a rock, and upon sighting Mario and Luigi, chase them for a short duration. If they do not reach the Bros, they throw their rock at them. After throwing, they are unable to move until a new rock drops down.
In battle, Monolifts hold 2-4 rocks over their head. In the uncommon instance it's holding a stack of four rocks, it'll turn red and struggle to hold the stack up. If a Bro. chooses to jump on the Monolift's stack of rock when it is in this state, the weight will be too much for it and the Monolift will be squished and defeated instantly.

In battle, Monolifts can appear with Flibbees R and Grumbells. Monolifts hold two to three rocks over their head. Some of them are metal and grey, others are brown. Due to these rocks, they are immune to jump-based attacks. They have three attacks, two of which use up their rocks and conclude with the Monolift running offscreen to get a new set. The rocks are chosen at random, but there is a chance that the Monolift will return with a stack of four rocks. If so it will turn red and struggle to hold the stack up. If the Monolift is jumped on during this time, the weight will becomes too much for it, and the Monolift will be squished and defeated instantly. The last is an attack where it teams up with a Grumbell in the battle, and does not expend their rocks.
When attacking, they either may approach a Bro. and hold the stack of rocks even higher over its head, making them shake back and forth. The approached Bro. must hammer the Monolift when the rocks and tilting away from them to make them all fall on the Monolift. Failure to do so successfully will result in the Monolift after a small period to throw the rocks at a very vertical arc into the approached Bro. or for the rocks to fall on the Bro.

One attack has a Monolift approach a Bro. and hold the stack of rocks even higher over its head, making it shake back and forth. The approached Bro. must hammer the Monolift when the rocks are tilting away from him to make them all fall on the Monolift. An incorrectly timed hammer causes the rocks to fall onto the Brother, and not attacking at all allows the Monolift to throw the rocks into the air where they fall down onto the Bro. One hit is dealt per rock.
Monolifts may also throw their stack of rocks high into the air, and punch them into Mario and Luigi which they must jump over. If the Monolift faces Mario and the background, it's about to punch a metal rock at him. If the Monolift faces Luigi and the foreground, it's about to punch one at him. If the Monolift is about to punch a soft, orange rock, it will break into two and fly towards both Bros. who must jump over them completely as unlike the metal ones, landing on them still does damage.

Another attack has a Monolift throw their stack of rocks high into the air. The rocks come back down one at a time, and the Monolift punches them into Mario and Luigi. This is avoided by jumping over the rocks. If the Monolift faces Mario and the background, it is about to punch a metal rock at him. If the Monolift faces Luigi and the foreground, it is about to punch one at him. If the Monolift punches an orange rock, then the direction its facing is unimportant. Orange rocks break into two and fly towards both Bros., who must jump over them at the same time. The orange rocks also approach the Bros. slightly slower than the metal rocks do. The Bros. can land on these rocks without taking damage. It has no effect on the metal ones but the orange ones shatter.
If a single Grumbell and Monolift is present in the battle, they may perform an attack together than involves the Monolift dropping its stack of rocks and the Grumbell dropping to the floor. The Monolift will then pick up the Grumbell and begin weightlifting after twitching its eye. After several lifts, the Monolift will throw the Grumbell at the Bro. it targets. If it twitches so its left eye is bigger, it will aim at Luigi. If it twitches so its right eye is bigger, it will aim at Mario. This attack takes up the Grumbell's attack turn.

If a single Grumbell and Monolift are present in the battle, they may perform an attack together. It starts with the Monolift dropping its stack of rocks and the Grumbell landing on the ground. The Monolift picks up the Grumbell, twitches its eye, and begins weightlifting. After several lifts, the Monolift will throw the Grumbell at one of the Bros. If the twitch made its left eye appear bigger, it will aim at Luigi. If the twitch made its right eye appear bigger, it will aim at Mario. If the targeted Bro. dodges the Grumbell, the Grumbell will loop around the screen boundaries, then collide with the Monolift. Outside of Hard Mode, this attack deals 14 damage to the Monolift and damage to the Grumbell. This attack takes up the Grumbell's attack turn. The Monolift picks up its rocks after using the attack.
