In Donkey Kong Country, Mini-Neckys (also referred to as Necky Jnr's on one occasion) attack Donkey Kong and Diddy Kong by spitting out coconuts, which move horizontally in the Kongs' direction. Some Mini-Neckys move up and down while spitting out coconuts. A Mini-Necky can be defeated from either being jumped on or being hit by a barrel. In the first remake only, Mini-Neckys appear in two more levels, Winky's Walkway and Necky Nutmare.

Donkey Kong Country 2: Diddy's Kong Quest
Mini-Neckies are small, black, (Sometimes blue) hostile birds encountered throughout the Donkey Kong series. As the name suggests, they are miniature versions of Neckies.

Mini-Neckys are enemies in Donkey Kong Country 2: Diddy's Kong Quest. They and Zingers are the only enemies returning from Donkey Kong Country. To correspond to the game's pirate theme, Mini-Neckys wear red polka-dotted bandannas on their heads. They appear slightly larger than in Donkey Kong Country and have a different behavior in that when it notices Diddy and Dixie Kong, Mini-Necky swoops down to try and attack them. They also have a deeper voice than in the previous game. The game also features a large Mini-Necky boss, Krow, who is later fought as Kreepy Krow. The latter's identically titled boss level features several ghostly Mini-Neckys which swoop at the Kongs individually; only one of them is normal, and the Kongs must jump on to summon a barrel that can be thrown at Kreepy Krow. In the cast roll, a Mini-Necky appears under the Lazy Landlubbers category.

Donkey Kong Land series
The first appearance of Mini-Neckies was in Donkey Kong Country. In this game, they would attack Donkey Kong and Diddy Kong by spitting coconuts at them. They later appeared in the game's pseudo-sequel, Donkey Kong Land. Here, they have the same attack patterns as they did in the previous game, and still fired coconuts at the Kongs.
Donkey Kong Land
Mini-Neckys are enemies in Donkey Kong Land. They act the same as in Donkey Kong Country.

Donkey Kong Land 2
Mini-Neckies next appeared in Donkey Kong Country 2: Diddy's Kong Quest, where they were semi-common enemies encountered in various levels. In this game, Mini-Neckies would attack Diddy and Dixie Kong by swooping down at them, and could be defeated by being jumped upon. Unlike the vultures from Donkey Kong Country, these Mini-Neckies wear red polka-dotted bandannas on their heads. Donkey Kong Country 2 also introduced a giant Mini-Necky boss named Krow; and in the Kong's battle with the ghost of Krow ("Kreepy Krow") in Gloomy Gulch, several ghostly Mini-Neckies would occasionally appear and attack the Kongs. During the battle against Kreepy Krow, the Kongs would have to jump on a regular Mini-Necky to make a barrel appear, which they could then use to hit Kreepy Krow. Mini-Neckies, along with Krow, reprized their roles in the Game Boy pseudo-sequel, Donkey Kong Land 2.
Neckys are enemies in Donkey Kong Land 2. Donkey Kong Country 2: Diddy's Kong Quest. They only appear in two levels, Kannon's Klaim and Mudhole Marsh, as well as during the boss level Kreepy Krow, acting the same as before. Because of the Game Boy color's monochromatic palette, regular Neckys cannot be distinguished from their ghostly variant. During the ending, a Necky appears in "The Baddies" category.

DK: King of Swing / DK: Jungle Climber
After a long absence, Mini-Neckies reappeared in DK: King of Swing and its sequel DK Jungle Climber, where they'd either swoop at the Kongs or shoot coconuts. Mini-Neckies also appear inside green balloons as items in Donkey Kong Barrel Blast.
Mini-Neckys are enemies in DK: King of Swing and DK: Jungle Climber. They have blue feathers in both games instead of black. Mini-Neckys attack by spitting coconuts at Donkey Kong or charging at him, like in Donkey Kong Country. In DK: King of Swing, Mini-Neckys first appear in Necky's Canyon while in DK: Jungle Climber, they first appear in Cliffy Peak.

Donkey Kong Barrel Blast
Levels
Mini-Neckys appear as blue balloon items in Donkey Kong Barrel Blast. When used by a racer, the Mini-Necky homes in on the nearest opponent behind the racer and rams into them. This results in the opponent losing ten bananas. If a Kremling uses a Mini-Necky, the opponent also loses a Wild Move.
