The '''Millennium Star''' is the name of two known [[star (species)|star]] entities, one false and one real, appearing in ''[[Mario Party 3]]''. The false Millennium Star is the host and a major character in ''Mario Party 3'', replacing [[Toad]] from the previous two titles; it is not revealed until the game's ending that he is not the real Millennium Star, before the player is awarded with the real one. The Millennium Star's name may be a reference to the fact that ''Mario Party 3'' was originally released in Japan in the year 2000, the final year before the [[wikipedia:3rd millennium|third millennium]]. The game explains this as being a specific type of star born once every thousand years, or once a millennium.

The false Millennium Star is a silver, mustachioed star who will grant the wish of any player who passes his test. The Millennium Star fell on the garden near [[Peach's Castle]] while [[Mario]] and his friends were resting. Mario and his friends argued about who would get the star, which resulted in [[Lakitu]] coming and suggesting that they have a contest to see who claims the star as theirs.

When the player first meets [[Princess Daisy]] during the story mode, Daisy makes the Millennium Star fall in love with her. When the player beats [[Waluigi's Island]] (the final board), the Millennium Star states that the player has one more opponent, finally revealing that the opponent is the Millennium Star himself. He challenges the player to the [[Stardust Battle]], and after the player completes it, the Millennium Star reveals he is not the real Millennium Star and flies away. [[Tumble]] then opens the top of his die cap to reveal the real Millennium Star, an all white star that emits a rainbow-colored halo and truly has the power to declare the player's character as the "Superstar of the Universe".

In addition to his ''Mario Party 3'' appearance, the false Millennium Star appears as a [[Sticker (Super Smash Bros. Brawl)|sticker]] in ''[[Super Smash Bros. Brawl]]'', has a profile in ''[[Mario Party: The Top 100]]'', and appears in ''[[Super Mario-kun]]''.
