Before the minigame starts, players have to try to memorize the items' locations on the shelves with the next few seconds they have. After that, many [[Toad (species)|Toads]] (specifically red Toads in ''Mario Party Superstars'') come onto the screen and tamper with the toys behind a cloud of white smoke. Once the Toads are done, the game reveals that they knocked down some of the items, leaving some in their proper places. The screen splits into four.

Once done, it is revealed that they knocked down some of the items, leaving some in their proper place.

When the minigame starts, the players have to lift the items and place them back on the shelves in their proper spots in a matter of 30 seconds. The better the player memorized an item's location, the more accurate the placement. Once done, the player can close their curtains to prevent others from copying and wait for the timer to run out. They can open the curtains if they feel uncertain about the placement, so they can change at any time. When the timer runs out, the minigame ends. Any closed curtains then reopen, and the game shows the correct placement of each item from left to right. The player(s) who put the most items in their proper spots win(s). If a player earns fewer than three [[point]]s, they automatically lose. In ''Mario Party 3'', if everyone scores three points or fewer, the minigame ends in a draw. In ''Mario Party Superstars'', this occurs if everyone scores zero.

Then all the curtains reopen, and the game shows the correct placement of each item from left to right.

In ''Mario Party 3'', the items and backdrop are represented by sprites, while in ''Mario Party Superstars'', they are 3D models.
The player who puts the most items in their proper spot wins.
