'''Mega Wigglers''', also referred to as '''Big Wigglers''', are a large variety of [[Wiggler]] that first appeared in ''[[New Super Mario Bros.]]'' Unlike normal Wigglers, their size typically causes them to not notice when the player character jumps on them, though they can sometimes be found angry by default.

A Big Wiggler first appears as a friendly creature in ''[[New Super Mario Bros.]]'', specifically in [[World 7-3 (New Super Mario Bros.)|World 7-3]]. This Big Wiggler, referred to simply as a "'''giant Wiggler''',"<ref>{{cite|author=Loe, Casey|title=''New Super Mario Bros.'' Player's Guide|page=94|date=May 15, 2006|publisher=Nintendo of America|language=en-us|isbn=1-59812-009-3|quote=It’s a rare treat to meet a humongous creature who doesn’t want to kill you. The giant Wiggler at point 1 is happy to take you on a ride through this level, but you’ll need to leap off its back and onto the block platforms to reach the first two Star Coins.}}</ref> is harmless and very long compared to typical Wigglers, having a total of 29 segments, including the head. [[Mario]] and [[Luigi]] can safely ride on its back, and they must do so for the majority of the level while avoiding enemies.

 

An enemy version of Big Wigglers also exists in the game files of ''New Super Mario Bros.'', behaving the same as a regular Wiggler, but it is [[List of New Super Mario Bros. pre-release and unused content|unused]] in the final game.

Big Wigglers appear as stage hazards in [[World 5-2 (New Super Mario Bros. Wii)|World 5-2]] in ''[[New Super Mario Bros. Wii]]''. They move on preset paths, and can hurt Mario and company if they run into them. However, Big Wigglers can also defeat [[Swoop]]s and most other enemies they run into, and players can bounce harmlessly off them to reach coins and blocks above; pressing the {{button|wii|2}} or {{button|wii|A}} button will do a high jump, similar to a [[Trampoline|Spring]].

They are completely invincible, and do not become angry like normal Wigglers; however, there exists an unused "angry" body graphic found in the files, suggesting Big Wigglers could get angry at some point.<ref>https://tcrf.net/New_Super_Mario_Bros._Wii/Unused_Graphics#Red_Big_Wiggler</ref> If Mario and co. are under the effects of a [[Super Star|Star]], they will simply bounce off the Big Wiggler with no effect. They can only be defeated by reaching the flag at the end of the level, as with the [[King Bill]]s encountered much later.

Big Wigglers return in ''[[New Super Mario Bros. U]]'', serving the same role as in the previous game. They are found in [[Soda Jungle]], and appear in [[Wiggler Stampede]]. In ''[[New Super Luigi U]]'', Big Wigglers appear in [[Wiggler Floodlands]], where they are used to cross [[Poison (obstacle)|poison]].

In the [[Mario Kart (series)|''Mario Kart'' series]], Big Wigglers appear in [[Wii Maple Treeway|Maple Treeway]], a course introduced in ''[[Mario Kart Wii]]'' and returning in ''[[Mario Kart 7]]'', ''[[Mario Kart Tour]]'', and ''[[Mario Kart 8 Deluxe]]''{{'}}s ''[[Mario Kart 8 Deluxe – Booster Course Pass|Booster Course Pass]]''. If a driver bumps into them, their [[kart]] will be pushed back. In ''Mario Kart 7'', Wigglers jump when they get hit by a [[Super Star]] or a [[Bob-omb]]. In ''Mario Kart Tour'', Big Wigglers cause racers to spin out on contact, and also appear as hazards in [[Madrid Drive|Madrid Drive 2]] and in [[DS Shroom Ridge|DS Shroom Ridge T]], replacing the latter course's [[Car (obstacle)|cars]] and [[truck]]s. In ''Mario Kart 8 Deluxe''{{'}}s ''Booster Course Pass'', Big Wigglers move around differently and cause any racers driving at high speeds to spin out, and one also appears in the forest section of {{classic link|DS|Mario Circuit}}, as well as in {{classic link|Tour|Madrid Drive}}.

Players had to race against a Big Wiggler in a [[List of tournaments in Mario Kart Wii#September 2010 Tournament 2|tournament]] on [[Wii Wario's Gold Mine|Wario's Gold Mine]] that took place in December 2008 and September 2010 in ''Mario Kart Wii'' and avoid hitting it while racing around the course. During the first two laps, the Wiggler's speed would nearly match most vehicles, but in the final lap, the Wiggler would become angered and turn red, increasing its speed. The few Item Boxes found along the course contained only [[Triple Mushrooms]] and [[Super Star|Star]]s.

A Big Wiggler, known as a '''Mega Wiggler''' here, makes its ''Mario Party'' series debut in ''[[Super Mario Party Jamboree]]'' as the owner of the new board [[Mega Wiggler's Tree Party]]. In-game, the Mega Wiggler is able to be traversed upon, switching up what paths players can take in the center of the board.
