His boss fight is similar to his one from the 16-bit ''Sonic The Hedgehog 2'', where his sprite is borrowed from, which has Mecha Sonic spinning around in a ball form, then shooting out spikes. As a ball, he homes in on the player, and when he lands, he stands on either the street level or the building as a platform. Both rolled and unrolled forms are vulnerable to shots.
