Mecha-Bowser, also known as Mechakoopa, is a giant robot in the likeness of Bowser that first appears in Super Mario Sunshine, and has since made several appearances in some form or another in other games, mostly various spin-offs. It is likely inspired by Mechagodzilla in appearance.
History
Super Mario Sunshine
In Super Mario Sunshine, Mecha-Bowser is found in Episode 1 of Pinna Park and is controlled by Bowser Jr. To fight it, Mario, riding the park's Roller Coaster, must collect and fire water rockets (via FLUDD) at Mecha-Bowser. Mecha-Bowser attacks by shooting Bullet Bills at Mario, and by breathing fire on the Roller Coaster track, which can be doused using FLUDD. When firing Bullet Bills or damaged, the cannons shown resemble the controller ports on the Nintendo GameCube. After enough hits, the robot explodes, and Bowser Jr. pilots its head away to escape.

Mario Golf series
Mecha Bowser is a huge Bowser-shaped robot used by Bowser Jr. to attack Mario, and escape from him. Mecha Bowser is a little bit like Giga Bowser because of height, weight, and appearance.
While Mecha-Bowser does not physically appear in the series, its name appears on scoreboards in Mario Golf: Toadstool Tour and Mario Golf: Advance Tour.

In Super Mario Sunshine, Mecha Bowser was found in the first episode of Pinna Park, being controlled by Bowser Jr. To fight him, Mario must board a rollercoaster and fire Water Rockets (via F.L.U.D.D) at Mecha Bowser when he gets close enough. Mecha Bowser will attack by shooting Bullet Bills at Mario, and by breathing fire on the rollercoaster tracks. Eventually, Mecha Bowser is destroyed by Mario. Unfornately Mecha Bowser was only included in 5 Mario adventures. (Look down at game appearances to see all games that Mecha Bowser is in!)

Mecha Bowser also appeared in Mario Power Tennis. This lead players to assume that he was re-built by Bowser or Bowser Jr.. In this game he tilts the court. Later, in Mario Party 5, he is a giant toy that shoots characters out of a cannon. Also in Mario Party 7 his head apears in Bowser's Enchanted Inferno.

Mario Power Tennis / New Play Control! Mario Power Tennis
In Super Mario Galaxy, Mecha-Bowser appears in the Toy Time Galaxy; however, he appears very different from how he has appeared in the past games. In this game, instead of a robot, he is a toy robot and he doesn't look like Bowser a lot. This is probably because this Mecha Bowser is blue and green instead of the normal Bowser colors. To "defeat" Mecha Bowser, Mario must climb to the head of Mecha Bowser (similar to Megaleg) and then Ground Pound through the rocks on top and into its head to destroy it and free the Gearmos that were captured inside it. Note that this Mecha Bowser was called Heavy Metal Mecha-Bowser instead.
In Mario Power Tennis and its Wii port, Mecha-Bowser is the boss of the Mecha-Bowser Mayhem minigame, in which it rotates the court and battles players, firing Bullet Bills and Bob-ombs that can be deflected back at it. Players must attack it with charged tennis balls until it is defeated.
Another Mecha Bowser appears in Mario Party 5, in the Toy Dream board.

Mario Party series
Foreign Names
In Mario Party 5, Mecha-Bowser is a giant toy on the Toy Dream board and shoots characters out of a cannon in its mouth to another location on the board whenever they land on a nearby ? Space. In Mario Party 7, its head is a feature of Bowser's Enchanted Inferno!. In Mario Party 9, its head is featured on the Bowser Station board as a Jackpot Machine. It stores Mini Stars, and players can earn these stars by playing minigames or by landing on Jackpot+ Spaces.

Mario Kart series
Game Appearances
In Mario Kart Arcade GP and Mario Kart Arcade GP 2, when finishing the Bowser Cup with Bowser, Mecha-Bowser replaces giant Bowser in a boss fight. His tactics are the same as Bowser. The player has to throw Black Shells at the pillars supporting Mecha-Bowser to defeat him.

Minecraft
In the Super Mario Mash-up in Minecraft, Mecha-Bowser's head replaces the original game's furnace block.
