Marunouchi Bright Holiday 2024,[1] also known as MARUNOUCHI BRIGHT HOLIDAY 2024~LET’S PLAY in MARUNOUCHI with SUPER MARIO~,[2] was an event that took place in the Marunouchi area of Chiyoda, Tokyo, Japan from November 14, 2024 to January 13, 2025.[2] It was the 2024 edition of Marunouchi's annual Christmas event, this time themed around the Super Mario franchise. Various Super Mario promotions took place in the area during the event, promoting the franchise and games released on that year.

Holiday objects[edit]

Decorations referred to as "holiday objects"[3] were set up near or inside buildings in Marunouchi, with some functioning as photo spots and promoting specific Super Mario games.

  • "Super Mario Power-Up Illumination" (スーパーマリオのパワーアップイルミネーション):[3] Located on the first floor of the Marunouchi Building. It featured cutouts of Mario hitting a golden ? Block, Luigi, Princess Peach, Yoshi, Toad, a Paragoomba, a Koopa Paratroopa, and a Lakitu. Above the ? Block there were golden statues of power-ups, being the Super Mushroom, the Super Star, and the Fire Flower. A light show was held at this location every fifteen minutes.[1]
  • "Princess Peach: Showtime! Sparkle Photo Spot" (プリンセスピーチ Showtime!キラメキフォトスポット):[3] Located on the third floor of the Shin-Marunouchi Building. It was a photo spot promoting Princess Peach: Showtime! and it featured a cutout of Peach in a theater-themed set with a picture of the Sparkle Theater in the backdrop.
  • "Yoshi's Colorful Bright Zone" (ヨッシーたちのカラフルブライトゾーン):[3] Located on the first floor of the Marunouchi Oazo. It featured cutouts of several colored Yoshis near a giant snow globe with colored Yoshi's Eggs. A photo spot consisting in a Warp Pipe with a backdrop was present next to it.
  • "Luigi's Mansion Haunted Terrace" (ルイージマンションのホーンテッドテラス):[3] Located in front of the entrance to the Marunouchi Terrace. It was an area promoting Luigi's Mansion 2 HD with cutouts of Luigi and Polterpup and illuminated glass with artwork of Boos, a Greenie, a Hider, and a Poltergeist.
  • "Toad's Holiday Garden" (キノピオたちのホリデーガーデン):[3] Located in the Marunouchi Brick Square. It featured cutouts of several Toads on top of Mushroom Platforms.
  • "Bright Holiday Warp Pipe Photo Spot" (ブライトホリデーワープパイプフォトスポット):[3] Located on the first floor of the Kokusai Building. It was a photo spot with a Warp Pipe and a backdrop depicting holiday artwork of Mario and Luigi.

Stamp rally[edit]

A stamp rally took place during the event. Participants could purchase a stamp card for ¥200 and visit the following locations to collect character stamps:[4]

  • Marunouchi Building (1st floor, Mario)
  • Marunouchi Terrace (Luigi)
  • Shin-Marunouchi Building (Peach)
  • Marunouchi Oazo (Yoshi)
  • Nijubashi Square (Daisy)
  • Marunouchi Brick Square (Toad)
  • Marunouchi Building (3rd floor, Goomba)
  • Kokusai Building (Bowser)
  • Tokyo Building (Boo)

Once a participant collected all the stamps, a final large stamp was given and the participant received a set of five stickers and an A5-size clear file.[4]

Super Mario Party Jamboree demo session[edit]

On December 21 and 22, visitors of the Shin-Marunouchi Building could play a demo of Super Mario Party Jamboree on the first floor. Participants would receive one out of three stickers for playing, being one of snowmen of Mario and Luigi, another of a snowman of Toad and snowwoman of Peach, and one of a snowman of Yoshi with a Yoshi Egg.[1]

Merchandise and food[edit]

Super Mario-themed merchandise and food was sold in stores in Marunouchi during the event. Customers who spent at least ¥3,000 in merchandise would receive a sticker, while those who purchased food or drinks for the same price would instead receive two out of five Super Mario-themed coasters.[5]

In addition, a Super Mario pop-up store was open on the first floor of the Marunouchi Building, which also sold Super Mario merchandise normally exclusive to the Nintendo Tokyo/Osaka/Kyoto stores.[5]

By using the GPS check-in option of the My Nintendo app in Marunouchi, it was also possible to download an exclusive wallpaper for the event.[2]

Campaigns[edit]

Three campaigns were held in the event. A lottery was held where, by entering it via the Marunouchi Points App and doing purchases, participants could either win a Zero Halliburton Super Mario suitcase, an Epoi Super Mario mini pouch, or coupons for the app.[6] Another campaign, referred to as the "Bright Snap Campaign", consisted in following the official Marunouchi.com Instagram account and posting pictures with the hashtag #丸の内でホリデーを遊びつくそう ("Enjoy the holidays in Marunouchi") to win one of 100 chocolate cookie sets from the Maison Cacao Marunouchi Store.[6] Lastly, customers who purchased a Super Mario game on sale at the Tsutaya Bookstore in the Marunouchi Building starting December 1 would receive a Super Mario-themed garland.[6]
