The core gameplay follows the rules of golf: to hit the ball into the hole in the fewest number of strokes. Both sand traps and water hazards appear as obstacles depending on the course. Any player who hits the ball out of bounds or into a hazard receives a penalty stroke. The hole can be seen from afar by a glowing, blue pillar of light.
