MarioWiki talk:PipeProject
It has been decided that the Super Mario Wiki will no longer support this feature. This page is kept and protected strictly for historical purposes.
I would like to explain my reasons behind trying to start some of these projects, similar to WikiProjects on Wikipedia. When I first started revising Luigi's Mansion, with help from HK and Son of Suns, it soon became apparent that articles for each ghost and room would be necessary, making tens, close to 100, articles for the whole project. Thanks to the contributions of other members, including mainly Sir Grodus and Monty Mole most recently (everyone else who helped edit a ghost and/or room: great job!), we are just four room articles away from completing all those pages, an awesome accomplishment from a growing Wiki. However, it was poorly organized; the talk page became too long and there was no coordination on who was creating what (I remember two times when I had a page ready to go and it was already created, leaving me to check the article). With PipeProjects, we can split up the work and make such projects a lot quicker, especially in a multigame project if one player has played a specific game the others haven't.
For example, currently I have fallen behind on the Mario Kart series race courses. This would be the first PipeProject to go into motion, for maybe only a couple would have played Super Mario Kart, and just one playing Mario Kart: Super Circuit, making those users in charge of those sections. Just like the red link in the sentence before, projects on making one page better will not be what a PipeProject is for, but for multiple pages. Seeing that grammar is sometimes a problem, there could even be a PipeProject that asks for people to specifically edit grammar in an article (marking it minor).
As the Wiki grows and more games come out soon (Yoshi's Island 2, Mario vs. Donkey Kong 2: March of the Minis, Super Mario Galaxy, Mario Kart Wii (tenative)), we'll need some organization to get them done efficiently. I hope the community understands my reasons and will help in at least one "PipeProject".

- It turns out we did have a page for Mario Kart Super Circuit, the title not having the colon. It is correct that way, so that cancels out a large part of this project. SaltyTalk! 12:46, 15 August 2006 (EDT)
Hey
how do you join or make the pipe project?purifieda
Can someone create a pipeproject on Mario & Sonic at the olympic games? There are several of those articles (Characters, Events) and it could be called PipeProject:MASATOG, so what do you think? I don't want to create it--Marioguy1 My talk page (haha, no link for you ) 02:10, 4 July 2009 (EDT)

Wish I could but I'm not shure how too yet. =| User:Gamer2.1
Mini-games
Should there be a PipeProject on mini-games? There are many mini-games, with those in the Mario Party series and those in Super Mario 64 DS. If I remember correctly, there are also mini-games in Donkey Kong Country 3. Dry Bones A (talk | contribs) 22:19, 27 January 2010 (EST)

Help! I want to join a PipeProject but I don't know how! -User:Pooglefamily- I AM THE PIRANHA MASTER!
- Pretty late a response, but there's a list on each PipeProject (all of them are listed on this page) that shows the users participating. Just add your name there.
