MarioWiki talk:Patrollers
Thanks for the new job! By the way, is rollingback the same thing as reverting something?-- Aipom --
- Yes. Clicking "rollback" reverts all edits by the person who last contributed to the page. --KPH2293 15:42, 16 April 2007 (EDT)
- Quicker method of reverting to take care of vandalism quickly. You have to look at the diff of the change(s) of vandalism and click "[rollback]" on the right-hand side. Wa TC@Y 18:23, 16 April 2007 (EDT)
How many more patrollers will be chosen?-- Aipom --
We'll see how two do first, then if there's still a problem I'll add more. Wa TC@Y 21:03, 16 April 2007 (EDT)
I think four is a good number, but that's just me.

How to become one[edit]
I'm interested in becoming a patroller. How can I become one?

Why Return?[edit]
If patrollers are "needed" again after another big vandal attack, won't we go through this whole cycle again? Wa TC@Y 20:04, 26 March 2008 (EDT)
- Yep, but I think this page should be kept for historical purpose. After all, we kept the Improvement Drive. --Blitzwing 07:00, 27 March 2008 (EDT)
- Delete. A sysop can do an undelete if we try a return. Jdrowlands (talk) 11:24, 7 April 2008 (EDT)
- Well, this is more like a technical note that we still have the Patroller rank listed in the system. Questions may rise up because you can view a list of patrollers (which is empty, duh) at the User List. - Cobold (talk · contribs) 11:33, 7 April 2008 (EDT)
- It won't show for me. If you're talking about Special:Listusers/patroller then that is empty, but so is [[Special:Listusers/<insert word here>]]. It does not show on the basic Special:Listusers dropdown box. Jdrowlands (talk) 13:32, 8 April 2008 (EDT)
- Cobold: If we have this page for that reason, we may as well make a page for Bots, too. We do have those in the system too, you know. Marcelagus (T • C • E)
- Actually, no. --Blitzwing 08:25, 1 September 2008 (EDT)

List[edit]
Can someone put a list of the patrollers? MisterJaffffey G0 Patrollers
Patrolling[edit]
The article states "A Patroller is a user who is given blocking, rollbacking, and patrolling rights." Could someone explain what "patrolling" is in this case? An aswer would be greatly appreciated. Shiancoe (talk)
- The ability to use Special:Patrol. Yoshario
- Ah, I see. However, the link you provided is limited to Patrollers and Sysops. What does Special:Patrol do exactly? Shiancoe (talk)
- I dunno. Once I was a sysop on another wiki, but I didn't have the patrol extension. But I think its similar to Special:Newpages or Special:Recentchanges, where you get to patrol the things that have happened. Correct me if I'm wrong though, because, I am rather curious too. Yoshario

Sorry for bothering ya, but the Patrol page works to "hide" a history of certain page, for example, vandal's edits. Somehow similar to undo a submission. ¢oincoll€ctor
- No, you weren't bothering at all. In fact, thanks for your answer. =) I've added what rollbacking and patrolling are in the Patrollers page, just for reference. --Shiancoe (talk)
OK, No problem-o :P ¢oincoll€ctor
Actually, I think what Coincollector described is Oversight. Patrolling allows sysops and patrollers to go through recent edits and mark new edits as patrolled, meaning that they have checked the edit ensuring its fine and thus others don't need to check it. I rarely if ever use this function, but that's what patrolling actually is (I think). --Son of Suns (talk)
- You're probably right. I thought at first he was talking about oversight(because that's what it does on Wikipedia), but I wasn't sure. So, do only admins and bureaucrats have oversight rights? -- Shiancoe (talk)
I want to join[edit]
- May I try being a patroller? I know what they do and what must be done. Chris Helper 04:34, 25 November 2010 (UTC)
- I won't go around the site randomly blocking people. - Super Chris Helper
Hi[edit]
HI I was wondering if I could become a patroller I do not do bad thing and I wont block people for no reason could you please just give me a chance It would make me happy:) meeper (talk)
- Unfortunately, meeper, you cannot ask to be a Patroller -- someone would have to notice your editing history and nominate you if they think you're suitable for the job. --M. C. - "Mario Gals" Fan! User Page | Talk Page 15:37, 27 April 2012 (EDT)
