I was totally unaware about the whole "5 Personal Images" thing until someone warned me about it. Now, I'm curious. Why only 5? Is it so that people don't flood the wiki with unrealted images? --{{User:Long John Spaghetti/sig}} 07:40, December 17, 2019 (EST)

:[[MarioWiki:Personal files]]: ''"We regret having to be legalistic about this (the wiki is supposed to be lighthearted and fun, after all), but we have grown to the point that having a standard is necessary, and simply giving free rein in this area is counter to the goals of the knowledge base."'' So basically yes. {{User:Mario jc/sig}} 07:50, December 17, 2019 (EST)

:Swearing is allowed as long as it isn't excessive, and this is their own userpage, so there's no problem here. {{User:Mario jc/sig}} 23:30, September 28, 2023 (EDT)

== I don’t understand how to nominate a featured article. ==

Can someone please explain what I need to write? Thanks! {{unsigned|DaxMax}}
:To nominate a featured article, go to the article you wish to nominate and input the Featured Article template
<code><nowiki>{{FASTAT}}</nowiki></code> at the very top of the article. Next, go to [[MarioWiki:Featured articles]] and go to the "How to nominate" section. At the bottom of the section you will see a box you can type into. Most of it is already filled in, so you only have to type the name of the article you wish to feature there (for example, if you want to nominate [[Mario]], the box should read MarioWiki:Featured articles/N/Mario). Then, you must fill in the article to get the correct information. The <code><nowiki>{{substPAGENAME}}</nowiki></code> template should be the name of the article you wish to nominate. In the template, |nominated should have the correct time that you nominate it (it should go Hour and minute, month, day, year. For example: 16:55 January 1, 2024). Under the "Support" section, input your username there in a template with a hashtag in front of it (for example, <code><nowiki>#{{User|(Username)}}</nowiki></code>). Give out your reasons as to why the article should be featured. Other users can support or oppose your nomination.

Hope this helps! {{User:Sparks/sig}} 22:10, February 10, 2024 (EST)

== Wordfilter problems for Peach Showtime, leading to Error Code Plessie ==

So, I reached autoconfirm status yesterday (5 March 2024), but when I was working on [[A Parade on Ice]], I noticed something strange. I simply could not add any mentions of the name of the Ribbo*er no matter what, because apparently the wordfilter thought I was writing "bo*er", leading to "Error code: Plessie" and instantly logs me out too. Meanwhile, it appears a fair few other users could mention his name without workarounds, e.g. https://www.mariowiki.com/index.php?title=A_Parade_on_Ice&type=revision&diff=4178890&oldid=4178880.

So I think that particular Theet's name has to be whitelisted in the wordfilter as soon as feasibly possible; while at the same time I wonder if I must've missed out on some important information, if other autoconfirmed users seem able to mention his name, while I cannot. :As far as https://www.mariowiki.com/index.php?title=User%3ADandelionSprout&type=revision&diff=4181505&oldid=4181503 goes, it seems to have been fixed by now, for which I'm thankful regardless of how it got fixed. == Captcha ==

I've been hit with the captcha a few times.  And I'm faced with the fact that I don't know enough about Mario (I've played maybe 10 of the games listed here in any depth, and mostly ones from last century), so some of the captchas are trivia I just don't know.  And when I try to reload the captcha to get a question I can answer, I run into "you're doing that too frequently" error messages soon enough.  This raises a few questions:
* If I don't know enough to answer all the captchas, should I take that as an indicator that I'm not qualified to edit this wiki?
* I've been to other websites where they did something like "To prove you're a human answer this question.  The answer can be found *here*(link)"  Does MarioWiki have something like that?
* What kind of edits require captcha?  Does it depend on what level of user I am?  Is this already documented somewhere on MarioWiki?

== Leaked and spoiler info ==

Is adding stuff based on leaks or datamining a game before it comes out even allowed? I've seen some updates on the TTYD remake and related subject pages that seemed to added base on those. [[User:Metalmario991|Metalmario991]] ([[User talk:Metalmario991|talk]]) 11:40, 21 May 2024 (EST)
:I think there should be a penalty for anyone adding datamined content before the day of release. It puts the wiki at risk of getting takedown notices as well. [[User:Super Mario RPG|Super Mario RPG]] ([[User talk:Super Mario RPG|talk]]) 23:43, May 21, 2024 (EDT)
:See [[MarioWiki:Spoilers]] - information with reliable sources is allowed, but not files until the game is released. {{User:Mario jc/sig}} 23:51, May 21, 2024 (EDT)
