Mario's Puzzle Party is a 4-Player minigame in Mario Party 3, a Puzzle minigame in Mario Party DS, and a Sports and Puzzles minigame in Mario Party Superstars. Mario Party 3 also includes a similar variation titled Mario's Puzzle Party Pro.
Mario's Puzzle Party is a 4-player minigame found in Mario Party 3; it later reappears as a Puzzle minigame in Mario Party DS. A similar minigame in principle, Mario's Puzzle Party Pro, can be unlocked after beating the Millennium Star in the Stardust Battle.

Gameplay
The player has to break the colored blocks by connecting two or more blocks to get points. Bricks occasionally fall to obstruct the player (they can be broken by making combos around them, however), while Thwomps occasionally drop and crush the blocks underneath it to half-size, which can aid the player in scoring combos. The player who reaches a certain amount of points (100) wins. If any player runs out of space in the grid to place the blocks, the player's game ends.
Players earn points by connecting blocks of the same color. Bricks serve a purpose akin to Garbage Blocks, while Thwomps squish the blocks on the field. The first player to achieve 100 points wins, though this can be changed in 100-point increments up to 1,000 in Free Play Room. If a player cannot place any more blocks, they are disqualified, and if this happens to three players, the last player remaining wins.

The Mario Party DS version is played from the Touch Screen. A lot of the changes make it more similar to Mario's Puzzle Party Pro, but the two-player version is closer to the original Mario's Puzzle Party. The character icons use their designs from Mario Party 3, as do the Thwomps. The top screen now indicates when Thwomps appear. If the player clears their screen, they receive 1,000 points. The player can also drop pieces instantly. The minigame also features levels, the highest being 99,ref needed with each level increasing the speed of gameplay and the number of points earned. The player gets one Mario Party Point per every forty points.
The Mario Party DS version has a few changes to the minigame. In fact, it functions similarly to Mario's Puzzle Party Pro. The top screen reminds the player about the Thwomps, while the bottom screen shows the entire action. Also, when the player manages to clear the screen of blocks, then, the player is awarded a bonus 1,000 points. In addition to this, there are levels, which speed the game up the higher they are. The highest level one can get to is 99. Every 40 points the player gets translates to one Mario Party Point.

Mario Party Superstars features three versions. For one, the four-player version from Mario Party 3 is retained, but without the ability to change the number of target points in Free Play. The second involves two or three players and is played from Vs. Puzzles mode, but players can change the target score (but it is always 300 points online). The third is part of Score Attack, and it is essentially a port of Mario's Puzzle Party Pro, as the player tries to get as many points within three minutes, and Bricks fall on stage for every 100 points.

Notes
Trivia
*In Mario Party 3, the mugshots of every returning character are reused from Mario Party 2.
* The portraits of six characters playable in Story Mode who appeared since the first Mario Party are re-used from Mario Party 2. However, Daisy and Waluigi, who can only be used in Party Mode, are the only two characters whose portraits from this game are used, due to this game being their first appearance in the Mario Party series.
* In the Mario Party DS version of the game, the icons for the characters are changed back to the icons from the N64 games. This includes Peach and Daisy, who revert to their pre-GameCube designs. Toad's icon is the only new one, replacing Donkey Kong's.
