'''Mame-san''' are green, bean-like enemies that appear in ''[[Yoshi's New Island]]''. They are only found in [[Big Beanie's Castle|World 1-8: Big Beanie's Castle]]. They approach [[Yoshi]] and [[Baby Mario]] by hopping towards him in a similar manner to [[Burt]]s from the previous [[Yoshi's Island (series)|''Yoshi's Island'' games]]. They are the only new enemies in the game that are not a variant of an existing enemy. In the castle's final room, [[Kamek]] "plants" a Mame-san with his hammer, which grows into a beanstalk leading to the sky, where it grows into [[Big Beanie]], the boss of the level. During the boss battle, Big Beanie spits out Mame-san at Yoshi, which he can eat to make [[Yoshi Egg|egg]]s to throw at Big Beanie.
