'''Malakoopas''' are green-shelled [[Koopa Paratroopa|Paratroopa]]s that appear in ''[[Super Mario RPG: Legend of the Seven Stars]]''. Their name may be derived from {{wp|malachite}}, a green gemstone. They appear alongside the much bulkier [[Grand Troopa]] in [[Bowser's Castle|Bowser's Keep]]. Though loyal to [[Smithy]], Malakoopas still recognize [[Bowser]] and [[Flee|run away]] if he is active in battle. If Bowser is not active, Malakoopas may sense his presence and become confused, causing them to attack themselves or other enemies. They possess a high Defense stat and have a weakness to Thunder. Malakoopas were originally barefoot, but their Switch redesign wears shoes.
