The game consists of a 6×6 {{wp|word search}}, in which names of various [[Nintendo]] characters appear horizontally or vertically. The objective of the game is to find all names from a list beside the grid. The names that can appear in the list are:

To select a string of letters, the player has to drag their mouse/stylus/finger along them. Once a word is found and selected, it is highlighted in the list. At the end of the game, a window appears showing a rating out of three stars based on the time it took the player to find all the words. The player can then choose to play a new game or close the window to return to the title screen.

The game can be paused at any point by clicking on the PAUSE button at the bottom. On the pause screen, the player can start a new game or resume the current game.

Depending on the score, one of three characters also appears in the same window as the score (only in the desktop version): [[Bowser Jr.]] at one star, [[Diddy Kong]] at two and a [[Monty Mole]] at three.
