==Gameplay==
Each participant appears as their character's head. After a short jingle plays, the solo player must look either up, down, left, right, or straight ahead, accomplished by pushing the Control Stick in a given direction or not at all. Using the same controls, the team of three must avoid looking in the same direction as the solo player. If one of the team players looks in the same direction as the solo player, their head shrinks and an "X" appears above it, eliminating that player. Even if a player is eliminated, they can still move their head. If the solo player looks in the same direction as them again, their head shrinks even further. It is possible for more than one player to lose in a given round. The minigame ends either if the team of three loses or if one or more members of their team are still in the minigame after five rounds.

In the [[Mini-Game Coaster]], the player is always on the solo team and must eliminate the three AI opponents to win.

The objective of the lone player trying to eliminate the other three while the team players have to survive five rounds would later be used again in the minigame [[Fight Cards]] in ''[[Mario Party 5]]'', albeit with buttons determining the actions made instead of the Control Stick.

In ''Mario Party Superstars'', unlike in the original version, the characters do not appear as disembodied heads. Instead, they appear in portraits with their faces and shoulders seen. Also, when a player from the team of three is eliminated, instead of their head shrinking with an "X" above it, the eliminated character simply groans in disappointment while the other two members of the team stare angrily at whoever was eliminated. If both the player on the left and the player on the right get eliminated at the same time, the player in the middle instead looks angrily towards the screen. Additionally, characters vocalize each time their heads change direction.

In the version seen in ''Mario Party Superstars'', the eliminated character's portrait was originally going to be crossed off with a {{wp|No symbol|"no" symbol}} while the other two members of the team stare angrily at whoever was eliminated,<ref>{{cite|author=Nintendo of America|language=en-us|date=June 15, 2021|url=youtu.be/lTiFERyYlPY|title=''Mario Party Superstars'' – Announcement Trailer – Nintendo Direct {{!}} E3 2021|publisher=YouTube|accessdate=June 15, 2021}}</ref> but this was changed to an "X" appearing over the eliminated character with the camera zooming out on them in the final version to give it similarity to what happens in the original version.

In ''Mario Party Superstars'', this minigame is available in Stage 2 and Stage 5 of the [[Mt. Minigames#Trio Challenge|Trio Challenge]] in [[Mt. Minigames]].

In Stage 2, human players play as a team against an Easy CPU solo opponent, and the rank requirements are:
* A: All three team members survive
* B: Two team members survive
* C: Only a non-CPU team member survives
* D: Only a CPU team member survives

In Stage 5, a single human player plays against Easy CPU opponents, and the rank requirements are:
* A: Win within two rounds
* B: Win in the third round
* C: Win in the fourth round
* D: Win in the fifth round

In ''Mario Party 2'', if the solo player wins, they dance by bopping their head from side to side, and the team frowns below while spinning and shrinking. If the team players win, they dance while the solo player's head spins, shrinks, and disappears.

In ''Mario Party Superstars'', the winner(s) look(s) happy, while the loser(s) look(s) disappointed.
