The World of Trophies (referred to as "This World" on the Smash Bros. DOJO!! website and in trophy descriptions) is the general setting of The Subspace Emissary mode of Super Smash Bros. Brawl. The characters that appear in the world are described as being fighters that primarily do nothing but fighting. After a fighter is defeated, they revert back to an inanimate trophy, though this can be undone if another fighter touches the trophy's base (or if the trophy has one of King Dedede's brooches attached to it). The stages in the world consist of a large stadium, a forest, a large grassy land, a jungle, mountains, a large lake, a deserted zoo, a swamp, a desert (which also includes a large castle), a glacial mountain, some ruins, and a large floating island with a secret base.

History
Prior to the events of The Subspace Emissary, the Ancient Minister and all of the other R.O.B.s lived on the floating Island of the Ancients. However, Tabuu invaded the island and forced the R.O.B.s to work for him. He converted the island into a Subspace Bomb Factory operated by the R.O.B.s and appointed the Ancient Minister to plant Subspace Bombs in various parts of the World of Trophies, drawing them into Subspace.
Many years ago, the Ancient Minister and all of the other R.O.B.s lived on the floating Isle of Ancients. However, Tabuu invaded the island and all the other robots were taken hostage on his orders. He converted the island into a Subspace Bomb Factory and told the R.O.B.s to get to work on making them, except for the Ancient Minister, who was told to go around and place Subspace Bombs on various parts of the World of Trophies, drawing them into Subspace.

When Tabuu first found the Island of the Ancients, he decided to use the robots to help him make Subspace Bombs. The Battlefield Fortress is a Subspace Emissary stage.

As the outside of the castle is seen, many arrows and catapults are laying around in the sand. A Subspace Bomb is seen, with two R.O.B.s activating the bomb. The Ancient Minister had dropped the bomb, and while he floats away with another bomb, many Primids pop out from the sand, heading towards the castle. Atop the castle, Marth raises his sword, then ventures from the inside of the castle to the outside. Later, he stands in front of Subspace, but he glares to the right after hearing something. He prepares his sword, and Meta Knight flies downwards, engaging in a sword fight. This is soon interrupted by Primids, who jump on the back of the two, are cut in half by both swords. Marth and Meta Knight form a team, and defeat the army of Primids. They then chase the Minister, whom has another bomb. The two try to cut the bomb off of him, but fail. However, Ike jumps and slashes (using his move Aether), which cuts the connection of the bomb to the Minister who escapes. The three swordsmen then head to The Wilds.

The Entrance to Subspace is a level in the Subspace Emissary that begins shortly after the Subspace Gunship emerges from Subspace, piloted by Ganondorf and Bowser. The ship's huge blaster shoots a purple laser out towards the mainland, sucking a portion of it into Subspace. Ganondorf then sees the Halberd coming across the horizon, and he and Bowser engage the ship in combat, exchanging laser fire until the Subspace Gunship's blaster shoots through the middle of the Halberd, destroying it. The Falcon Flyer, the Hocotate Ship, an Arwing, and Samus' Starship appear from the inside of the Halberd, intending to assault the Gunship. It begins firing at the heroes, who dodge every shot. Enraged, Ganondorf and Bowser order the Gunship's laser to be charged again, but before it can fire, Kirby appears out of nowhere, riding Dragoon, directing it through the Gunship, causing it to burst into flames and a large section falls into the ocean below. Bowser and Ganondorf both turn and walk into Subspace, and the heroes give pursuit.

The Canyon
After making it into Subspace, all characters taunt, and the player selects four characters to venture through Subspace, which is relatively short. In the meantime, Ganondorf shoots Bowser with a Dark Cannon and heads to what looks like a cliff. Master Hand appears, and Ganondorf bows, looks up a little, and notices strings of light controlling Master Hand. Ganondorf looks up farther and sees a blue figure, known as Tabuu, from whom the strings emanate, and proceeds to charge toward the being. Tabuu easily deflects the attack and sends Ganondorf back down to the cliff. Ganondorf lands on Master Hand during his descent, which severs the bonds Tabuu placed on it. Curling into a fist, Master Hand charges toward Tabuu but is deflected by a force field. He slams into the ground and does not move for the remainder of the game. The heroes encountered through the game then meet Tabuu, ready to engage him in combat, though before the heroes are able to do so, Tabuu extends his wings and unleashes a devastating Off Waves attack, which turns everyone into trophies simultaneously.

The Forest is a stage, where Link walks alongside Navi to the Master Sword, and pulls it out of its base. As the two proceed, they walk past Yoshi, who is sleeping on a tree stump. The Halberd then flies above them, causing the sky to turn red. A group of Primids appears before them. Yoshi wakes up and stands besides Link, and after engaging and defeating the Primids, the two continue together.
The Canyon is a stage, where, after the events in The Glacial Peak, the Ice Climbers land on a mountain, alongside where Marth, Ike, Pokémon Trainer, and Lucas stand. Many Primids appear, being created by Shadow Bugs. Marth pulls out his sword, ready to attack, but seen in the background are Mario, Kirby, Pit, Link, and Yoshi, all taunting. The five jump off of the mountain, and the player picks four out of the five to battle in a multiman-brawl.

The background of the stage features several trees that slowly thins out to show the open sky. Bundles of tree leaves and scattered logs are used as platforms, and some ruins are found near the stage's end. Once Tabuu is defeated, the stage can be returned to in order to face Toon Link. Beating him unlocks him as a playable character in Subspace Emissary and in all other game modes.

Later in the story (after the events on the Battleship Halberd Bridge and in The Subspace Bomb Factory), it is presumed that The Canyon is the landing place of the Halberd and the Falcon Flyer, and where the heroes set off to find Ganondorf and Bowser in Subspace.
At the stage's start, a few Primids are battled before a floating platform is reached, with more enemies there. Nearby, a Puppit and a Bucculus are found near some fallen trees. Past the trees, another group of enemies appear, this time with bottomless pits scattered around them. Going though a door found afterwards leads to some more enemies (including Trowlons, Tickens, and Auroros) lurking on some tree stumps. A tall cliff is then jumped over using some nearby springs. After another fight, the player comes across some ruin walls with bomb blocks around them. Past the ruins, some Mites, Feyeshes, and Shellpods are fought along the path before entering a small stony room. A nearby switch creates some platforms, enabling access to the upper area. Continuing along the path eventually leads to the stage's exit.

Midair Stadium is the first stage, consisting of a platform similar to Final Destination. The background has an audience and clouds. During the Subspace Army's attack, it shares its background with the Halberd stage.

The Cave
The stage begins with a battle between Mario and Kirby, watched by Peach and Zelda. After the brawl, the Subspace Army invades the stadium, and Mario and Kirby, along with the princesses, fight against the Primids, among other Subspace creatures. Eventually, the Ancient Minister appears, carrying a Subspace Bomb. Mario is knocked away (ending up in Skyworld) and Kirby battles fighting Petey Piranha, who holds the princesses captive. Kirby manages to rescue one of them, but Wario appears wielding a Dark Cannon. After failing to capture Kirby, Wario notices the other princess and fires his weapon at her instead, reducing her to a trophy. The stage ends with Kirby escaping with the princess he saved and the Subspace Bomb exploding, taking the stadium to Subspace. Midair Stadium cannot be played again until the game is cleared.

Outside the Ancient Ruins is a stage that begins with many Pikmin attacking a gigantic R.O.B. The R.O.B. opens its eyes and spins around, killing the Pikmin. Standing a few feet away is a scared Captain Olimar and what's left of his army of Pikmin. His Red Pikmin then taps him and points behind them. The Blue Falcon jolts down towards behind Olimar, and as it gets closer, the rider turns it towards another angle (still close to Olimar, but not enough to hit him), and the rider ejects from the Blue Falcon, showing himself to be Captain Falcon, who Falcon Punches the R.O.B. and slides on the ground, killing what seemed to be all the Pikmin remaining except for Olimar's Red Pikmin. Olimar stands there, and both form a team. Both venture through the outside, battling enemies left and right. At the end of the stage, they both stand upon a cliff, glaring downards. They see a platform that carries many Primids, who are keeping Donkey Kong captive. They see an Arwing chase the platform, which Diddy Kong ejects from it, while the pilot, Falco Lombardi winks at Diddy. While landing on the platform, Diddy shoots the Primids with his popgun, which he then walks over to the trophy of Donkey Kong, whom Diddy revives. Captain Falcon grabs Olimar and jumps off the cliff onto the platform, whereas many more Primids appear, alongside other enemies. A multiman-brawl begins, and which is soon won by the heroes. At the end of the battle, they enter an island floating in the sky, which is the location of The Subspace Bomb Factory.

The player then reaches a flat area with Feyesh and Tickens. A stone wall must be broken, leading to a Borboras in front of a cave with a Ticken at the beginning. A wall blocks the entrance of the cave when entered and begins to move, and fiery Jyks and Poppants are encountered. A Borboras and a Boom Primid are found before a drop containing breakable stone blocks. More Primids are found as the player travels through the cave. A path in the ceiling leads to a Feyesh in front of a door, which contains stickers, a Heart Container, and an orange cube with a trophy in it. At the end of the main cave area, a Borboras and another door are found. Through the door, the player must ride a moving platform, while fighting Spaaks, Primids, Borboras, and Glunders. Subspace is an entity found in the Subspace Emissary. In The Subspace Emissary, the Subspace Army uses Subspace Bombs to drag anyone and anywhere into Subspace. Each time a bomb detonates, a certain part of the World of Trophies is destroyed and sucked into a place known as Subspace. The first area ever destroyed was Midair Stadium. Throughout the game, the Subspace Army kept destroying many other parts of the world. The explosion of the bombs can be compared to Super Paper Marios Void; similarly to The Void, Subspace explosions do not kill characters sucked into it and instead just warp them to a world of darkness.

Entrance to Subspace
All the characters in the game eventually enter Subspace, where they follow Bowser and Ganondorf after the destruction of the Subspace Gunship. However, once there, they are attacked and incapacitated by Tabuu. Luigi, King Dedede, and Ness (and later Kirby) are revived by badges created by Dedede and come to the rescue, journeying through Subspace and reviving all the trophies. When the heroes have regrouped, even recruiting the former villains into the team, Tabuu forces all the characters to go through The Great Maze, a fusion of the areas of the Smash Bros. world previously pulled into Subspace. After a long journey, the group reaches Tabuu's chamber. Sonic the Hedgehog joins them in the fight. They then defeat Tabuu, and all is well.

At the beginning, the Great Fox and the Halberd are seen battling, shooting blasts one-by-one. At the bottom of a mountain nearby, Marth, Ike, Pokémon Trainer, and Lucas look at the battle, while Meta Knight climbs a nearby mountain in an attempt to reach his ship. He passes the Ice Climbers on the way and they join him. They venture the mountain and reach the top. When arriving at the top, Meta Knight notices Lucario, who then notices Meta Knight. Lucario jumps from where he sat and prepares to fight Meta Knight. The Ice Climbers look at both with a scared look, and the player picks which character to play as in the battle. After a fight, Lucario and Meta Knight shake hands, but this is soon interrupted by the Halberd, which has the Great Fox captive and knocks it into the mountain. The Ice Climbers fall to the bottom (the location of Marth, Ike, Pokémon Trainer, and Lucas), while Lucario and Meta Knight climb on the Great Fox, and then onto the Halberd.

During the events of the Subspace Emissary, Samus Aran's Power Suit was somehow acquired by the Subspace Army and held in the Research Facility.  Analysis of the Power Suit allowed the Subspace Army to create two sentient clone copies of the Power Suit to serve as additional weapons for the army's invasion.

After Meta Ridley is defeated, the Falcon Flyer escapes from the factory, while the factory and Meta Ridley are sucked into Subspace. The Falcon Flyer flies to what is supposedly The Canyon, alongside the Halberd, and lands among the other heroes.

The Wilds is a stage, where the area is an expansive desert that is very rocky and has very little sand. The stage will often progress without the player's help. That coupling with boxes and walls can be catastrophic if they aren't careful. Near cliffs, there are also boulders making progress more difficult. Many Roaders live in the flat areas of the land, able to remain hidden until the stage reveals them.

After this, Mario, Pit, Kirby, Link, and Yoshi, still tracking down the Ancient Minister, venture through the desert. Nearing the edge, they once again attempt an attack on the minister, only to narrowly miss as before. As the Minister is about leave, a R.O.B. jumps to grab a hold of the Subspace Bomb that the minister holds, but slips off. It falls to its death but manages to free the Subspace bomb from the minister's grasp. Another two R.O.B.s come over and activate the bomb. Mario and Pit attempt to detach the R.O.B.s from the bomb, but two more R.O.B.s shuttle Mario and Pit away. The bomb detonates and engulfs part of the Wilds in Subspace. Mario flees on Yoshi, while Kirby, Pit, and Link escape on a Warp Star.
