Wii]]''. They occur in underground caves and illuminate the surrounding area when a nearby [[? Switch]] is struck. Light-Up-Lifts are similar to [[Glow Block]]s, an identical looking item also introduced in ''New Super Mario Bros. Wii'' that the player character can carry with them.

Light Blocks first appear in ''[[New Super Mario Bros. Wii]]''. They are encountered in {{world-link|5|ghosthouse|World 5-Ghost House (New Super Mario Bros. Wii)}} only. Light Blocks appear as moving nearly invisible blocks at first (which look similar to [[Empty Block]]s from ''[[Super Mario World]]''), but if [[Mario]] or any other character hits a nearby [[? Switch]], the blocks temporarily glow and keep moving. These blocks can be used for both lighting the way and means of transportation.

Light Blocks are objects in ''[[New Super Mario Bros. U]]'' and [[New Super Mario Bros. U Deluxe|their port]]. They appear in [[Light Blocks, Dark Tower]] and retain their function from ''New Super Mario Bros. Wii''.

In ''[[New Super Luigi U]]'', they appear only in [[Light-Up-Lift Tower]], introducing their current name.
