Lemguin is a large sharp-billed crested penguin first appearing in Donkey Kong Country 3: Dixie Kong's Double Trouble! Its name is a portmanteau of the animals "lemming" and "penguin".
Lemguin is a large sharp-billed penguin encountered in the games Donkey Kong Country 3: Dixie Kong's Double Trouble and Donkey Kong Land III. Lemguin's name is a portmanteau of the animals "Lemming" and "Penguin".

History
In Donkey Kong Country 3, Lemguins are encountered in one level in the game, named Lemguin Lunge, which is located in K3. In this level, Dixie Kong and Kiddy Kong must dodge barrages of Lemguins. These enemies leap from their holes and slide on their bellies, attempting to collide with the Kongs. A Lemguin can simply be defeated by a single jump on it, or by any type of barrel. However, frontal attacks are rendered useless, due to their beaks.

In Donkey Kong Country 3: Dixie Kong's Double Trouble!, Lemguins only appear in one level, Lemguin Lunge, where they are the titular feature. Various parts of the level feature an indefinite number of Lemguins jumping out from holes in the snow and sliding on their bellies, attempting to hit Dixie Kong and Kiddy Kong, similarly to how Bazzas and Swoopies spawn indefinitely. A Lemguin can be defeated either from being jumped on or by taking a hit from a Cartwheel Attack or a barrel. The Kongs cannot defeat Lemguin by rolling into it from the front, as this harms them. In Dixie Kong's Photo Album, Lemguins are classified under the "Terrorfirma Tuff Guys" enemy class. In the Game Boy Advance remake, Lemguins jump straight upward before sliding on their belly.

Donkey Kong Land III
In Donkey Kong Land III, Lemguins are found in two levels, Polar Pitfalls in the area Primate Plains and Tundra Blunda in the area Blackforest Plateau. Here, the attack patterns of Lemguins remain the same and can still be defeated by the same techniques.
The only other game appearance of Lemguins is in Donkey Kong Land III, where they only appear in two levels: Polar Pitfalls and Tundra Blunda. They behave no differently than in the previous game. In the Game Boy Color port, Lemguins have purple-colored sprites.

left
Lemguins are the land equivalent of Bazzas and Swoopies, other enemies which possess similar attack patterns to Lemguins. According to the game's credits, Lemguins belong to the "Terrorfirma Tuff Guys" enemy class.
